I/MBasser Posted December 4, 2017 Posted December 4, 2017 I have a handful of SK KVD 1.5s and 2.5s. Most local ponds I fish aren’t very deep. But I do want to buy a few for the times I run across deeper water. What brand is your favorite? What about color? Most waters I fish are stained so I imagine 10-15 feet deep is pretty hard to see. Probably chartreuse or a bone white? Also thinking rattles are a good idea. Was looking at a Glo-Pro GP2. They have little glow sticks which I thought is interesting. What are your thoughts? Thanks! Super User Columbia Craw Posted December 5, 2017 Super User Posted December 5, 2017 Normans Deep Little N. Very affordable and over 40 color options. 1 Quote
Super User Raul Posted December 5, 2017 Super User Posted December 5, 2017 Rapala DTs have treated me well and don’t bother much about which color. Lipless cranks dive to any depth. 2 Quote
npl_texas Posted December 5, 2017 Posted December 5, 2017 SK 3xd, 5xd Rapala DT series I keep shad imitation, chartreuse (stained water), craw, and bluegill colors Quote
Super User scaleface Posted December 5, 2017 Super User Posted December 5, 2017 Berkely Dredger 17.5 and 14.5 The 14.5 from 10 to about 12 and the 17.5 deeper . They get to these depths fast and stay there long . They will reach advertised depths with 12 lb big Game . I fish stained water and bluegill with a little chartreuse , fire tiger and shads work well . Quote

If you’re thinking of a bigger profile, try a FatFree Shad. Those two fill that nitch perfectly for me. I don’t recall the color names, but something similar to SK’s Sexy Shad is a good choice for stained water. Quote
Scarborough817 Posted December 5, 2017 Posted December 5, 2017 if i had to pick one brand it would be the dt10 and dt14 for sure. I'm also a fan of the Spro little john dd and I'm thinking the new Berkley dredger will fit into this category too. Quote

Chris Posted December 6, 2017 Posted December 6, 2017 It depends on what I am trying to do and what kind of stuff I am fishing. If I am fishing zones like 10' or 15' areas because it is an edge of a break or end of a point. I would say a DT is a good option. If I was fishing down a laydown tree that dips into the 10'-15' range I wouldn't use a DT, I would use a fat free shad or something with the same nose down posture. If I was fishing the end of the tree I would fish the DT. If I was fishing a long tapering point I would fish a norman bait or something with the same posture. Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted December 6, 2017 Global Moderator Posted December 6, 2017 Stick with the Strike Kings and get some Series 5 and 5XD. 1 Quote
Super User scaleface Posted December 6, 2017 Super User Posted December 6, 2017 Theres a pretty big difference between 10 and 15 foot . I love Norman Deep Little N's at 10 foot but its not going to touch down at 15 . A deeper lure would be needed . Quote
DINK WHISPERER Posted December 6, 2017 Posted December 6, 2017 5xd or 6xd for that depth depending on your line size. 1 Quote
Super User Deleted account Posted December 7, 2017 Super User Posted December 7, 2017 Fat free shad, 5xd. Where are you guys finding Normans that run true (or can be tuned to do so) I used to fish them a lot when I had to go through maybe 3-6 to find a good one, when it got to over 10 consistently, it just became more fun than I could handle. I will say that the ones that are right are really right. I have a box of "good ones" that I break out every now and then. 1 Quote

I do with the 10 was a tad more buoyant, but you can’t argue with success Quote

I primarily use them on structure that is pretty much void of cover . The action is nice and tight and every single one has been perfectly tuned . They just feels right . I just finished reading of a walleye tournament and the winner used Dredgers because of its "aggressive diving action" . 1 Quote
