Hello

I am a Shimano spinning reel fan. I have a Nasci 1000, two Stradic 1000FK, and one Stradic 2500FK and they all seem to have the same quirk.

All are extremely smooth, cast great, don't twist line, and have a super smooth drag. However, the one slight issue I have with these reels happens every 10 or so casts. When opening the bail they feel a little spongy instead of clicking strongly into place into the open position. The bails never slam closed on casts but they don't always have that nice solid "click" when opening them. The issue can happen in any position of the bail. Does anyone else ever have this issue?

Thanks

I have had this happen with my Sedona after I let a friend barrow it. Do you close the bail manualy ? If not that could be what coused the problem their is a spring in the bail that you might want to check, to see if something is out of place? Send it to someone who can fix it if you don't want to take your reel apart and from here on out close that bail manuely.

Do NOT open a bail unless you know what you're doing. Also the Shimano spring is not your traditional style bail spring. Should be trouble free.  i have an idea what you're talking about. Don't think it's a problem though.

I have a few Shimanos that I've taken the bar that closes the bail so they are manual close only. I originally did it to reduce bail closing on snap casts after taking out that gasket thing that jammed when it got wet, and as a bonus no one seems to borrow them.
