5-6" here in North Metro ATL

The neighbors always look at me funny when they see the snow shovels hanging in the garage.  Until this happens :)

We got 6 snowflakes here in Southwestern Indiana. It's 19 degrees as well, if it's gonna be below 30 I need snow to go with it!

How much snow is on the ground? Watching my local news and all I've seen over A-Jay land recently was white, blue, or purple.

We're at about a foot or so - been snowing on & off (but mostly on) for several days.  Par for the course.

The 'snow belt' is often the target of the 'white, blue & purple' snow forecast hue.

But amounts can vary wildly within it.  Many times our little world here will get hammered, and just a few miles west, will get quite a bit less.  In order to get the 150 inch average - needs to snow at least an inch a day for 5 months (Nov - Mar)  So it's rare that at any given point throughout the day, that it isn't snowing.  At least a little.

Sort of like living in a snow globe - no shaking required.

We want the snow - just not digging the sub-zero wind chill right now.

We're at about 3 right now, but the next two days we are supposed to get lake effect. As you probably know the lake effect can be hard to predict and can vary by just a few miles. Where I am we're always on the line because we're about 40 miles or so inland. It can say we're expecting 1-2 and wake up with 8.

It's 17 here with 0-5 wind chill. I love working outside, but days like today's I question my sanity. Thankfully were slow so my time outside is limited then in the truck I go until I get to the next job, so it's not horrible. I could be in a cubicle. ?

I'm right on the water, so most of what comes off the Lake Ontario comes in bands.  Can be white out in one spot, two miles away the sun is shining.  When we get lake effect off Erie, look out.  Devastation.

Enjoy the snow, guys. Here in western PA we only have a 1/2" this morning. You can all think of me while you're shoveling snow today!

I drive a truck, and rarely shovel.  But I did think of you today. :P

Winter Storm warning for my neck of the woods. We've had about 4-5" since 9 am. Supposed to go until 11 or so, only supposed to get 5-8" but at the rate it's going now I'd guess 10 inches? Visibility is about 1/8 mile. I'm kinda liking it!

Sweet ~ and this whole deal is mostly south of 72.

So we're 'only' getting a few inches from it.

Enjoy kicking the "Groad" from your wheel wells.

Got about 8 - 10" of snow yesterday. About 60 miles south where I work they got about a half inch of snow before it turned to rain. Unreal.

Can you see the other transmission tower behind the front one? You can't? It's only 500 feet away! It was fun getting down my road. Company truck is only 2-wheel drive, 6" and drifting, and road won't be plowed until tomorrow. Don't let off the gas until you get close to your house. Lol

I know there are an awful lot of firefighters and first responders, not to mention homeowners down in So Cal who would love an hour worth of that white stuff.  Great photos and Merry Christmas everyone, JB

Our 8-10" we got last week pretty much melted. Thanks to the 1.5 we got tonight we'll have a white Christmas. Another inch or so possible over the next couple days, bitter cold is not welcomed though.

Merry Christmas my friend!

Merry Christmas my friend!

Merry Christmas to you as well my friend.

And the revamped forecast for us is 5-8 tonight, 5-8 tomorrow, and 5-8 tomorrow night.

So 5's & 8's are Wild in this hand . . . .

Santa's Golden round these parts . .  .

Planning on a Christmas Day Dog Sled run at some point  . . . .  I do like those quite a bit.

We could get up to six-inches.

However, right now the American and European models do not totally agree on the amount but they do agree on snow on New Years weekend.

We woke up to an extra unexpected 3" as well. We were only supposed to get the 2" or so we got yesterday evening.

It's just starting here in MA.  It just means I'll spend more time scouring the forum for knowledge and keeping the Tackle Monkey at bay until Spring....

It started to snow at noon Christmas Eve and we had an inch by 2100. The roads and walks are already meted off this morning.  It was nice to take a late night walk and listen to the squeaks of foot steps in fresh snow.  The grand kids were excited.
