I wear cheap water shoes the kind that have tennis shoe style construction with drain holes through the sole and upper. I also wear slip on 'camp moc' new balance that have aggressive tread and a slight negative heel helps on the banks. I have to check the model #s but they were all under 30$. I had some of the canvas light crocs which are the only crocs worth owning but I was looking like Bill Dance out there slipping on banana peels.

Running shoes on a boat when it's cold. 

Olukai flip flops when it's warm.

None in the kayak when it's warm enough. I have some muck boots for using the kayak in colder water, but I look for ponds that I can walk the shore in winter.

 

I've got a pair of LL Bean water shoes that I absolutely hate. The most uncomfortable shoes I've ever worn. They wore a blister on  both feet the first time I wore them! They constantly get sand, mud and gravel in them, requiring to be removed every so often and cleaned out. I will yard sale them or give to charity. If there was (and there may be) a tough neoprene sock-type footie I'd buy that. Does anyone know of one?

No bare feet or sandals for me. I get easily sunburned so my feet stay covered up. I like waterproof shoes to keep my feet dry if it's raining or I have to step in some shallow water when loading the boat. I like my LL Bean waterproof shoes. Good grip too.

I'm assuming the OP is asking about footwear while fishing in a boat?  I rarely fish in a boat, but if I do and it's warm then I wear flip-flops (with sunscreen on my feet).

The 990s are maybe the best shoe I have ever found for standing on hardsurface all day.  I spend most of my time at work on hard floors and the comfort difference between the 990s and my usual hiking shoes was insane.  

 

For fishing I wear water shoes in my yak and hiking shoes/boots when beating the bank.  The best trick I learned this year was for wading sandy/silty rivers.  I still wear my water shoes, but instead of wearing them barefoot, I wear a thin (3mm) pair of neoprene socks with them. The socks are tight enough at the ankle that they keep sand and grit out and help pad any that makes it inbetween the sock and shoe.  The abrasion does kill the socks in about a year, but I buy them onsale on amazon for around $15 and it really makes for a  more comfortable day in the water.

I’m a bank beater, so I’m wearing long pants and either my hiking shoes or my waterproof boots (Ariat Workhogs). I also picked up a pair of the Columbia PFG wading shoes (forget the exact name) for bank fishing in saltwater. They work great for wading. They drain/dry quickly and are extremely lightweight.

Got a pair. They are nice shoes, wear them everyday. I heard about them and went to the web site to buy some. They were $80 plus $10 more for the blue one. Looked on eBay and found an overseas seller that sold them for $32 shipped. It took 3 weeks to get them but it was worth the wait. Still don't know if I would pay $90 for them but they are really comfortable.

I wear a pair of Teva Evo water shoes when I fish.  They work especially well when I am in my kayak as they have spider rubber soles and really grip wet and slimy rocks well if I have to get out to portage.

 

Other times I wear some Teva sandals or if it's cooler and I know I'm not going to be getting my feet wet I'll just wear a pair of running shoes.
