Quarry Man Posted December 4, 2017 Posted December 4, 2017 Here is how I currently store all of my tackle: 3x Double-Deep Open-Core 3700 (Baitfish, Worms, Craws/Creature) Bass Mafia 3700 (Terminal Tackle & Weights) Flambeau Zerust 3700 (Jigs) Plano 3700 (Crankbaits) 2x Plano 3700 weird divider layout (Swim Jigs, Day Box/Miscellaneous) Plano 3600 weird dividers (used baits) This system seems to be working out for me with the amount of tackle that I currently own. I want to consider getting waterproof boxes, because I have dealt with several rust issues this year. I also need good way to carry baits from the house to the boat and other boats as a co-angler. I also need a way store Keitech swing impact fats in 3.8" Thanks, Quarry Man Quote
Sifuedition Posted December 4, 2017 Posted December 4, 2017 Saw a youtube but I can't find it now. Guy had tons of similar sized tackle boxes and stored them in reusable grocery bags he found at Wal-Mart. They looked something like the bag in this video. He had like 8 of these things full of plano's that he would just pick out what he needed that day to load on the boat or whatever. Seemed like a handy system. 1 Quote
Goldstar225 Posted December 4, 2017 Posted December 4, 2017 I picked this up at bass pro. Holds 7 3700 series boxes: http://www.basspro.com/shop/en/bass-pro-shops-utility-box-carrier 2 Quote
Quarry Man Posted December 4, 2017 Author Posted December 4, 2017 That's what I was looking at, seems to be a great idea, and the way I have my boxes labeled, It will make it very easy. Quote
Super User burrows Posted December 5, 2017 Super User Posted December 5, 2017 Just don't buy to many tote bags becouses then you'll have to give them to the beavers to build a dam like on we bear bears ? 2 Quote
Scarborough817 Posted December 5, 2017 Posted December 5, 2017 the grocery bag or bass pro bag are very good ways to transport as a co angler. If you are doing it for your own boat depending on size i would consider using totes similar to this which is a 17 gal container. You can fit 12 regular size 3700 planos or 6 double planos, if my math is correct I think this would fit all of your baits. 2 1 Quote
Super User fishwizzard Posted December 5, 2017 Super User Posted December 5, 2017 I have a dozen or two 3600 boxes in assorted styles that I build into little "kits" based around a type of lure, a specific presentation, or sometimes a mixed-lure kit for a specific combo. The remainder of my plastics live in their factory bags, sorted roughtly by type and stored in plastic shoeboxes on a shelf. I lug the kits from house to car in a generic gym bag and once I get to my spot I will pull from the kits to pack a single 3600 case that I actually carry around with me in a tackle sling. When I am in my kayak I just grab a few kits to cover the conditions I think I will face and toss them in my crate. It's incredibly inefficient and I am forever re buying stuff that I already own, but have buried in a kit somewhere and forgotten about. But I get a little kick out of building the kits up and it gives me something to obsess over when I can't get to sleep at a reasonable hour. I keep wanting to find a better gym bag type thing to keep the kits more organized in my car, but am leery about buying anything online as it is hard to visualize how well I can load them up. I like to keep my 3600 boxes stored flat to keep plastics from deforming, so a lot of tackle-specific bags are out as then mostly seem to favor vertical box storage. 3 1 Quote
Abzorb Posted December 5, 2017 Posted December 5, 2017 I still deal with rust even using zerust boxes and fanactly drying my gear it's enough to drive ya mad I tell ya! I dip a qtip in rem-oil or line lure conditioner and coat split rings, swivels and trebles. Traveling I carry a regular backpack with plano/flamb boxes. I got a soft plastic binder and put the original packs inside for additional sealing. I use a 'tote-um-pole' to carry rods. Along with a small cooler and I have everything I need still have a free hand. I also get the little ziplocks you can find in the craft section and put pre-rigged plastics and spinners in them to keep in-use stuff isolated inside my plano boxes. Smaller jigs I use the little pill pouch ziplocks you can find in the pharmacy, they are much more durable and thicker. My main storage is identical to scarborough817 and I'm happy with this method. Im working on building a metal shelf with rod holders on the sides because I don't wanna spend the loot on a prebuilt one. Quote
45user Posted December 5, 2017 Posted December 5, 2017 Pictures please! ? I would appreciate some pictures. I’ve been using shimano Bristol Tackle bag with rod holders for a while to tote my stuff to and from a boat. Quote
Super User Munkin Posted December 5, 2017 Super User Posted December 5, 2017 I store soft plastics by category in their original bags inside of one gallon freezer bags. This seems to save a lot of space. Allen 1 Quote

Super User Sam Posted December 6, 2017 Super User Posted December 6, 2017 Quarry, I always open my hard baits' tackle boxes after a trip on the water and the next day, when the baits are dry, I sprinkle some talcum powder on them and close the lid. Not only does this help keep all baits dry until you use them, but the powder helps preserve any rubber spinnerbait skirts. I do not do this with plastics. 1 1 Quote

Yea, it is nuts, but the little kits really keep me organized and lets me just grab a combo and a few 3600 boxes on the way out the door. There are so many little ponds around here it's a rare week where I can't sneak in a little fishing three or four days. It also helped me cut down on lugging a ton of stuff around with me and focus on whatever presentation I want to work on. I also have pretty bad insomnia a lot of the time and fussing with tackle is way more relaxing than reading or watching tv. Quote

Sifuedition Posted December 7, 2017 Posted December 7, 2017 I'm just getting back into fishing after too long away. So far, my kit is this: https://www.academy.com/shop/pdp/h2o-xpress™-tackle-pack#repChildCatid=995812 https://www.academy.com/shop/ProductDisplay?urlRequestType=Base&productId=3421565&catalogId=10051&categoryId=15562&errorViewName=ProductDisplayErrorView&urlLangId=-1&attr=&langId=-1&top_category=&parent_category_rn=&storeId=10151#repChildCatid=3421566 The backpack has four small planos. I have my artificials in those. I have one more small one with terminal tackle I leave in the truck in case I decide to do some live bait fishing that I could just switch with one of those four. In the main compartment, I have the worm-bag. The small plano in that has my worm hooks, jig heads, bullet weights, etc. Gets me around ponds pretty well. I've looked at a lot of other bags trying to find one more efficient, but haven't found one. The only ones I see that would seem to hold as much run $150 - $200+. Quote
CroakHunter Posted December 7, 2017 Posted December 7, 2017 I use a large bass pro tackle bag. It holds 8 or 9 3600 boxes. Plus a medium worm binder and a small box for my weights. I also carry some tools, 3 spools of line, and a water bottle in it. Its a little much for when I go pond hopping, but it's great when I jump in someone else's boat. Quote
Johnbt Posted December 7, 2017 Posted December 7, 2017 I used to use an insulated camo cooler bag. It had a shoulder strap and was rain and puddle proof if it was zipped. I gave it away when I started using a much nicer blind bag left over from duck hunting. Quote
