I have the Conquest 844C rod for jigs and worms and I like it very much (had a NRX before). Would the 843C be good for throwing topwater and jerk baits? Most of my top water would be 1/2 PopMax- 5/8 Sammies style of baits.  I would also use it lipless cranks, spinnerbaits, Senkos, etc. I only carry 2 casting rods and 2 spinning rods in my small boat so everything has to be versatile. I know many will prefer shorter rods, but I am fairly tall and have used 7 ft rods for these techniques before without any problem.

A very good top water rod is Major Craft NAC-T681 M/S1 Don Iovino Splash-It, this is not a high end price rod at $175 and 6'8". I use this rod for lots of presentations besides top water with 1/2-5/8 oz lures.

I was very interested in this rod. The top end rating of 1/2 ounce scares me a little. I do throw some top waters that are 5/8-3/4.

I use it 3/4 oz top waters like a Vixen,  1/4 Splash-it's and tried for 5/8 oz medium cranks like a Zoner Hunter. My favorite medium crankbait is Loomis PR845C, however I was using that rod for my structure spoons, the Splash-It rod worked OK, a little short for a crankbait rod.

Out of all the Conquest Rods, I am most interested in the 783C.  I am 6'3" and mostly like long rods, but when it comes to topwater and jerkbaits, I like a shorter rod which prevents me from "overworking" the bait (i.e., the longer rod creates a longer arc path for the same degree of rotation from your hand over a shorter rod).  And as far as spinnerbaits go, I still think the GLX 783 MBR is the best one out there when it comes to versitility.  I am hoping the Conquest 783 will offer the same versitility.

My Conquest 844c casts very well (I guess because of the Spiral x technology. I have used 6.9-7 ft rods because I like to make long casts to schooling fish (or just to be stealthy). It seems like I would sacrifice that with shorter rod. With a 7 ft rod, I just work the bait off to side a little instead of straight down.

Sorry for hijacking btw Rodney,

I am also considering to add one more rod for my arsenal.
I have NRX 853 JWR and 873 CCR to cover most of jig / plastic fishing that I do
Looking for moving bait casting rod, debating between NRX 843 / CONQ 783or 843 (MBR's)
Will most likely throwing 1/2 oz wire-baits, chatter bait, small swim tails and small treble hook baits.
which rod would you recommend and why??

I haven't used a Conquest and I know that I will not get one, I just can't justify that price tag. That said, I can tell you that based on all my other Loomis rods with a mag bass taper (MBR), that the 843C would probably be really good for the baits you have listed, a little long for my topwater preference but if you like that length then the action should be close to perfect. If it is similar to other mag bass tapers then it will be an excellent choice for lipless cranks and will have more than enough backbone for Senko style baits as well, that taper is super versatile.
