I'm looking to upgrade my jig rod this year. My rods are all around the 100$ price point (Bucoos, infernos, maxims, triumph) and it's seems the general consensus is that jig rods are the ones worth investing the most money in. I'm shooting for something around 200$. My initial research is pointing toward the Zodias, E6X, and Megabass Levante. The main emphasis for me is a rod that can excel in both close quarters fishing, and deep water draggin'. I could be trying to get too much out of one rod, but fishing from a yak has me limited to a small selection of rods at any given time. Anyways, any input on a jig rod that could do both wel would be greatly appreciated :)

Right now several sites have Megabass Orochi  XX on sale for less than $200. EMTF for jigs & trailers up to 1/2oz. Over get the Perfect Pitch. Absolutely awesome Rods. I like mine better than Dobyns DX 784ML

Orochis XX so much better than the Levante!!!

I haven't handled an orochi yet, but I loved the levante in the store. Unfortunately I'm gonna have to wait a while before I actually spring for another rod or i would jump on that deal

The orochi xx is miles ahead of the levante. Get the emtf or perfect pitch for heavier jigs. The tackle trap has them for $200. Another great option is the kistler helium 3 which is 30% off getting you in your budget.

Haven't handled the Shimanos but the E6Xs were not overly impressive feeling in person. I think you could probably do better for the money. The Megabass feel nice, but never put a reel on one and fished it.

Kistler KLX or Mag 2 is the way to go. Actually there is a reputable site that has a review of the Mag 2 and the rod they reviewed was a jig specific rod and the entire review is geared to jigs.

I just picked up a St Croix Avid X 6'6" Mh-f casting rod that might fit what you are looking for. I think they are on sale on the st Croix website for $140 right now.

Thanks guys. Seems like the orochi is the real deal. Also going to have to check out the kistlers. Ive never held one in person but I keep hearing good things
