Super User Jig Man Posted November 29, 2017 Super User Posted November 29, 2017 I have been carrying them in two different kinds of tackle bags with the worms in the original packages. The worms in both bags have welded together and in one bag they have gone flat in the other they are almost square. Anyone carrying them in a way that they don't weld or misshapen? Quote
Scarborough817 Posted November 29, 2017 Posted November 29, 2017 I'm not sure if this will work for you but personally I store all my stuff in plastics totes like this. My plastics are kept in original packaging and put into the blue Rubbermaid containers at the bottom I have never had an issue with elaztech melting or mis-shaping in 2 seasons of storing this way Quote
LCG Posted November 29, 2017 Posted November 29, 2017 I like their baits but they really should be kept in their packaging. I kept some this year in a Plano 3500 box dedicated to elaztech baits, out of the packaging. The box is badly warped, but they only cost a few dollars. No melting or deformation, sometimes they stick together but that's it. Were your bags subjected to extreme heat? Quote
moguy1973 Posted November 29, 2017 Posted November 29, 2017 Them sticking together doesn't affect their performance in my experience. I usually stretch them out before using them anyways to get the salt out so doing that gets them back into the shape they need to be. I keep them in their original packaging to keep them from melting in boxes and to keep them away from plastisol baits. I keep all my plastics stored in gallon sized ziploc bags and I keep all my elaztec baits in the same bag. Quote
Super User Jig Man Posted November 29, 2017 Author Super User Posted November 29, 2017 The heat is what ever the sun puts out in the summer time. They never come out of the boat. Every package of the newer ones have stuck together. I have some old ones that were labeled 3X. Not one of them has stuck or deformed. Quote
Super User Cgolf Posted November 29, 2017 Super User Posted November 29, 2017 I keep my rigged elaztech baits in a plano double sided 3500 sized box and that seems to not warp as bad as some other boxes. I do vent the box by drilling holes in it to make it a hydro flow box to limit rust. I really don't like the idea of storing rigged baits in a sealed bag after using them on the water. Quote
Super User fishwizzard Posted November 29, 2017 Super User Posted November 29, 2017 I have been keeping my rigged zman lures in a plastic fly box with foam inserts. The foam does not seem to react with the plastics and I tossed a silica pack in there which seems to have warded off rust. Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted November 30, 2017 Global Moderator Posted November 30, 2017 Keep them in the original package and stored separately from regular plastics like it says on the back of the bag and you won't have any problems. I carry dozens of bags of Zman in my boat that survive 100 degree heat and below freezing cold while being stored near but separate from regular plastics and I haven't had any melt yet. 1 Quote

Well I just must be unlucky about them. I had to cut them apart yesterday with scissors. They were so stuck together that they would not pull apart. Many of them were in packages that had never been opened. I keep all of mine in the original pkg. in tackle bags with nothing else in the bag. Quote

I know they've changed the formula and are probably constantly tweaking it to get it just right. Lots of factors that could effect them that we wouldn't ever know about. The surest way to try to prevent it is the original packaging though. I have a bag a friend gave me that was stuck together that I took out and let them sit in the open air in my shop and they basically pulled apart and went back to original form on their own with just a little kink to them.
