RichF Posted November 29, 2017 Posted November 29, 2017 Hey Fellow Bassers! I just booked a house on Lake Fork for an extended family weekend visit in February. I've read that Feb. is prime time for the big prespawn gals there. Any insight would be much appreciated! Thanks Quote
Sprocket Posted November 30, 2017 Posted November 30, 2017 Fork can be really tough at times. Depending on the weather, they should be in prespawn mode. Tons of spawning flats on Fork. North banks warm the quickest. Find grass!!! If possible, hire a guide the first day you are there. SE Kansas grass grower Quote
Bass_Fanatic Posted November 30, 2017 Posted November 30, 2017 I would spend some time in birch creek. It is one of the prime spawning creeks on the lake. There are numerous old road beds that can be great fishing In February. Those prespawners love hard spots like road beds to set up getting ready to spawn. 1 Quote

RichF Posted November 30, 2017 Author Posted November 30, 2017 I appreciate it fellas. I think the place we're staying is near Dale Creek, so towards the south end. I'm on the hunt for a hot spots map now. I gotta imagine it's kinda like fishing in NY...in April (the only time I throw moving baits haha). @Catt, the red lipless is always tied on in the spring! Fishing can be good in Dale Creek too! We always stay at K.C. Log cabin in Dale creek and have caught many a bass within sight out the cabin. 2 Quote
Big Swimbait Posted November 30, 2017 Posted November 30, 2017 BIG girl time on Fork. It's like swimbait fishing - you won't get as many bites but the ones you do get will be quality. As mentioned the road beds & creek channels close to deep water can be key. I always have a 1/2 oz black n blue jig with a blue sapphire trailer or a 1/2 oz white/black hair jig with a 4" pearl grub trailer tied on. My PB came on the latter at Fork in Feb - 27 degress & sleeting lol. I've had my best luck pitching to the stumps lining both. As they move up, they seem to like that cover. Good luck! 2 Quote
RichF Posted November 30, 2017 Author Posted November 30, 2017 My dad and I are jig fanatics so that's good to hear! I've been on google maps for a few mins and can't believe how much standing timber is in there. Thanks for the tips! Quote
Super User Catt Posted November 30, 2017 Super User Posted November 30, 2017 Many have shied away from em but I still like a big ol black-n-blue Liz-zard in the spring! 1 Quote
