For using jigs and worms.  I have used mono, fluro, straight braid and braid with leaders.  I fish in some pretty thick cover.  I have been fishing some rip rap rocks.  I use a M fast rod (St Croix Mojo Bass) for worms and MH fast (BPS Tourney Special) for jigs and worms and jigs.  I have tried them (line types) and like them all, caught fish with all, but I can only tell a slight difference.  Braid is more sensitive, but I worry about visibilty.  The water is very stained to muddy.   I know not to use straight braid in rock.  I have been using 14 lb Mono, 12 lb Fluro, and 65 lb braid.  I like Yo Zuri hybrid leader and Maxon Mono chameleon and clear for the way they knot.  I really hate it when the knot ticks in the guide (Alberto) , although it doesn't affect my cast and my knots don't fail.  I am thinking of going with Yo zuri hybrid line or going back to mono.  I have not had any knot problems, but Fluro makes me paranoid about knot security.  I have done gone and got myself confused. I read too much. I have caught a sack full of bass around 4 lbs but I am afraid my choice of line can be keeping the fat girls away or keeping me from detecting them. I need feedback from you serious worm and jig guys.  I fish from a yak if that makes a difference.

I fish my worms and jigs on 30lb braid to 14lb mono a lot. I too use the alberto knot. Braid to leader is the way to go for best sensitivty while reraining abrasion resistance against rocks.

I've recently moved primarily to 15# Abrazx but I'll tell you if you don't want to worry  about your line use Yozuri Hybrid in 12#.  That stuff is a little thicker than most comparable sizes but it's rock solid.  It's plenty sensitive and very manageable.

The two I like are Yozuri, and Big game.  For the past couple of years I have used Big Game more and more.

If you want to spend some time practicing and perfecting, try the FG knot, videos all over YouTube, search for "how to tie the FG knot."   It's the slimmest knot, and if done right, the strongest.  But a lot of people have trouble with it.  My suggestions to help are to use about 20 weaves, (if yours slips, next time make more weaves until it doesn't slip) make sure to pull it REALLY tight as you are setting the knot, make sure it's wet when you do, and put a drop of super glue on the half hitches (only the half hitches) when you're through.

 

This knot will last a long time since it doesn't get beaten up by the guides.  I find that the knot generally lasts until I have to tie on a new leader because repeated lure changes have shortened the leader too much.

I wish i could help you out here, but I'm a little lost in it all myself. I've been straight braid for many years now, but when I started fishing regularly again a year ago or so, I decided I wanted to go the leader route. I like the idea of flouro when it comes to bottom presentations, since it seems to give me less slack than braid.....but I haven't managed to get a leader to last any time at all, and have lost more lures than I would like to admit (as a bank fisherman, tougher to recover). I've now got big game on a couple setups, braid on a couple and flouro on one and am just taking a different one out with me each time I go to try to figure out what I like. I like the idea of flouro.....but my track record has been crappy with it with a lot of break-offs on hooksets and such. I like braid, but again, I know it's not ideal for all situations, and it makes breaking off a hung lure a real pita.

I tie my leader with a crazy Alberto, and then my flouro knot is the San Diego Jam Knot. Shaw Grigsby has a decent video on how to tie the flouro knot. I have not had one fail yet.

Sounds like you've done your homework. None are perfect for everything. I use all three. I use braid and leaders more than anything though, which allows me to use any leader I want.

 

Ditto the FG-Knot. It's a true revolution for braid and leader. Trick to tying it well is to keep all strands tight while you tie it.

 

I would not worry much at all about bass "seeing" your line. It's a non-issue for me, even in very clear water. What's important there is having the line diameter match lure size or weight. Fish detect the overall size of the object, and a tiny lure on rope is a big scary object.
