It’s got more coils than a slinky. 10 lb test P-Line is .014 dia, equals 19 lb test Armilo Defier. Tom 1 Quote
Super User JustJames Posted November 29, 2017 Super User Posted November 29, 2017 I used to use a lot of Hybrid line #6 8 10, but after the last spool of #8 smoke color I was very disappointed with Hybrid. I moved to #10 CXX and this line is stiff as hell and coiled up pretty good. I also have Izor Line XXX #15 for big stuff and this line is pretty tough and still softer than CXX. I like Izor Line a lot and at one time I had #4 for my finesse and pull 23 lbs crap with this setup. I ordered big spool #8(0.11 dia) Izor Line for next season. 1 Quote

Tom Yes, and the same .014 equals #12 big game. Lines vary, especially Sunline products. I use their #14 Sniper FC a lot. Good stuff. 1 Quote

Users like “thick” line because it’s stronger....take a Sharpie and mark 10 P-Line 4 lb test if you want stronger line or mark it 14 lb the average lb test for mono line and it’s not so stronger anymore. Evaluate by it’s diameter to eliminate Marketing BS. Tom 1 Quote

To keep fish hooked up on treble hooks? Objective being better lure action. I’ll probably get another rod in a couple months.till then... Quote

Or both? 20 hours ago, Darren. said: I'm more with those who say use what you are confident with. Pretty well settled for me (as of now) with Yo-Zuri Hybrid in 6, 8, 10, and Gamma Edge fluoro in 6, 8, 10. Years back I lost confidence in YZH when I had a 10lb leader snap in the middle while I was fighting a lunker. There were no abrasions in the line, it just snapped. Stopped using YZH in favor of P-Line Floroclear (which I still really like). Eventually went back to new spools of YZH and have been good since. And I only use these lines for leader tied to braid. Just how I roll. That’s what I do currently. How long a leader do y’all think is enough to add noticeable stretch? I usually have 5-8 ft and don’t notice any significant give. Quote

That would probably be an experiment you'll want to try. I remember reading about Gary Yamamoto using something like a 20 foot leader because he wanted to have the leader knot on his reel while fighting a fish close to the boat. I will use arm stretches - one to three hand-to-hand arms stretched away from me... Quote
