GeorgiaSpotSticker Posted June 5, 2007 Posted June 5, 2007 Hey guys, I need some help on this bass boat. I've been in the market for one for a long time. Here's a description.... 1996 Ranger 354XT 18ft.150HP Evinrude Intruder,4 blade ss prop,12/24 motor guide trolling motor,Indash flasher,2 aerated livewells with timers,Hydraulic steering,Ranger trailer with surge brakes,Always garage kept,Runs great. Interior is in great condition except for a few places on the seats.Gel coat is in excellent condition. Can lake test.$8500.00 And some pics... Quote
eastkybass Posted June 5, 2007 Posted June 5, 2007 Good looking rig. If you are intrested make sure you do the lake test. I looked at one that I thought I would love and when I took it out it handled awful. If I had bought it without driving it first I would have spent even more on getting the steerring fixed on it. jdw174 Posted June 5, 2007 Posted June 5, 2007 Not a bad looking rig. Make sure you take that test ride. As for price, I wouldn't answer that without seeing the boat myself. However, if YOU think it's fair and you can afford it, and if it runs/handles well, I'd say the price is right Quote
Super User Jig Man Posted June 5, 2007 Super User Posted June 5, 2007 It seems to be priced right. The average retail value in the NADA guides is $8840. Give it a ride, check the lower unit fluid and a compression check. Quote
Garnet Posted June 5, 2007 Posted June 5, 2007 Jigman's got it. Grab that steering wheel and move it back and forth those cable steers get stiff and the cables are pricey. When you buy it under the cowl you will see 2 small boxes 3/4"-1" these are the relays for your trim. Stop at a Dodge Dealership and pickup a couple and throw them in the glove box. If you don't carry them remember if your trim quits working 1 direction swicth these boxes around. They both need to be installed. Garnet Quote
DMB Fan Posted June 6, 2007 Posted June 6, 2007 Sharp looking boat! I have an '84 Ranger 350-v with a 150 Merc. same color and everything, I'm the second owner and the previuos pamperd the boat. I paid 3k for it, without taking it for a spin on the lake. I lucked out it runs like a champ. Get it checked out! You might not be that lucky. Quote
abelfisher Posted June 8, 2007 Posted June 8, 2007 Looks like a decent rig. Looks fairly maintained as well. Take a close look in the corners, crannies, etc. You will tell if the guy had pride and took care of it. Also, ask for the maintenance log. Quote
RobDar Posted June 8, 2007 Posted June 8, 2007 ...and you have checked the vin and all??? I do not know Rangers all that well but it looks like a short front deck for a 96...I thought Ranger had followed suit with the others by 1996 and had a full front deck by that year. Quote
rdneckhntr Posted June 8, 2007 Posted June 8, 2007 Make sure to do the lake test. A friend of mine went to buy a boat but took it out lastnight before he bought it and it wouldnt even get on plane. Quote
