It was a 10 pounder Posted November 27, 2017 Posted November 27, 2017 Hey everybody. I was wondering what the best all-around fishing line was because I only have 2 reels and rods. One of them is an Abu Garcia Revo sx with an Abu Garcia Vendetta and the other is an Abu Garcia UltraMax combo. Quote

If it's stained or muddy with vegetation put braid on one of your rigs Quote
IndianaOutdoors Posted November 27, 2017 Posted November 27, 2017 Line choice is very much a personal preference for most techniques. I prefer to use braid with a leader in most of my setups. That being said monofilament works well, is cheap, and was the only choice for several decades so it is a good choice as well. I'm not big on fluorocarbon but many here prefer it. Quote

jbmaine Posted November 27, 2017 Posted November 27, 2017 To me the best is a Copolymer line. It's mono only better. Jim Quote
Super User burrows Posted November 27, 2017 Super User Posted November 27, 2017 Pline cx premium does it all. Quote
Hulkster Posted November 27, 2017 Posted November 27, 2017 I am a full time mono user also. my favorite is Suffix Siege in smoke green. I use 10 pound test for both spinning and baitcasting. Quote
Super User Deleted account Posted November 27, 2017 Super User Posted November 27, 2017 It depends on where you are fishing, and what baits you will be using, but with 2 rods, I'd do 12-15 lb mono on one, and 30-50 braid on the other. 1 Quote
Super User J Francho Posted November 27, 2017 Super User Posted November 27, 2017 You probably have a favorite or familiar brand already. @reason's advice is solid, tried and true. Quote
Super User Paul Roberts Posted November 27, 2017 Super User Posted November 27, 2017 Mono may be easiest to deal with. I'd avoid FC. Braid is nice and allows you to change to different leaders of any mono or FC you might need. This is my general answer, since it was a very general question. More details require... more details from you. Quote
Super User Boomstick Posted November 27, 2017 Super User Posted November 27, 2017 For a single line to fish everything, I would probably use 14 or 15lb mono. I personally like the Suffix Siege myself. I currently am setup with 17lb for fishing crankbaits from shore in shallow waters and 40# braid on the other for fishing frogs, jigs and senkos. Can always tie a 12lb mono or FC leader on the braid as well. Quote
Super User WRB Posted November 27, 2017 Super User Posted November 27, 2017 I own over 20 bass rod/reel combo’s and 1 has braid! All the others have line for specific lure presentations. MH bait casting a good all round line to learn to bass fish is Berkeley Big Game mono; 12 lb and 15 lb. Great value and good line. Tom Quote
