So over the Summer, I went to see my family, and my father gave me a bunch of fishing stuff he never uses. He runs a pawn shop and randomly sends me stuff as well. I just need help identifying some of this stuff and its practical use. At the end, I also have a couple of unique items to share. Thanks in advance for any help you guys are able to provide!

What are these guys for? Ocean fishing of some sort?20171126_153145.jpg20171126_162449.jpg

Are these all jerkbaits? I watched a video on Rapala's website and I am actually excited to try these out as I have never used one before.

I have never used the color purple on a hard lure before. Are there any specific conditions suited for this color? Same questions for the yellow and green spotted cotton cordell lure on the right hand side.

Same questions for the dark blue in the corner. I think the Texaco one is kind of cool.

These guys all seem pretty old. Does anyone know anything at all about anything in this box?

I have never fly fished before. Are these guys good for any species?

These last few things are just kind of cool

If anyone can answer any of these I would appreciate it. If not, thanks for taking the time to look through my "junk" with me!

6th photo down.

Upper right, Mann's hardworm.

Left, second from bottom, Poe's RC1.

It's always interesting looking at lures people have accumulated.  Thanks for sharing.

Welcome to BR and thank you for sharing some bait pics; some old, some new, some craw, some blue.....sorry.

Ok, so the first pic looks like some Banjo Minnows. A soft jerkbait that could be used in fresh or salt water. I would definitely throw those in fresh water for bass, usually on a calmer wind day, shallow on a spinning rod with short twitches/pauses.

3rd pic, yes, are jerkbaits. Some good brands and colors in there. My go-to in cold water spring and fall.

4th are lipless crankbaits; referred to traps (a catch-all name taken from the most popular lipless bait the Rattletrap). Also a go-to in colder water for me but not to be dismissed all year long. As far as color, you will see many baits in colors that do not look like anything natural in the water but bass still eat them. Some show better in different colored water. Time to experiment.

5th is a selection of shallow to deep diving crankbaits. Also and experiment in color and style. What I mean is you have to try different baits on a given day to see what they want to eat. And typically, the larger the bill, the deeper it dives. And I'm no bait expert but the upper, left 2 baits look like Rapala Shad Raps which are known to excell in cold water too.

6th...selection of some cool baits to look at.

7th are bass bugs to be thrown on a fly rod. Floating top water baits

And I'm not familiar with those old worms but I would do more homework on them before opening them. I'd throw some new, common worm first and keep those packaged.

Definitely more to be said but that's it in a nutshell.

Thanks for the info guys. For the Mann's and the RC1, are those older lures?

As for the Banjo Minnows, I had no Idea. I will definately toss a couple of those next time I am out on the 'Yak. I am also glad you pointed out the cold water stuff for me. I may just have to go get my butt cold next weekend and try them out at Medina!

Of all the things I need/want to buy I guess I should add a fly outfit to it. Does anyone know if those flies will do well in the San Antonio Region? Is fly fishing even a thing here?

I didn't plan on opening the worms or hooks as they are both vintage. I will probably hang them over my tool box in the garage as well as the reel.

I remember seeing adds for the Mann's hardworm and Poe's RC1 so they can't be that old (from my point-of-view LOL).  They probably are from the 1980's?

Your jerkbait box consist of a Bomber Long A Minnow ,  2 Smithwick   Rouges , 3 Rapala Minnows , 2 Jointed Rapalas and a Rapalla X-Rap .

The crankbait box .The blue one looks like a Rebel Double Deep Wee R . There should be a weight in the lip. Below it I dont know . Two slots down looks like a Rebel . The bottom on that side has a lip like a Bagleys . On the other side iit looks like 2 Rapala Shad Raps . Below it looks like a new  style Wiggle Wart . below that ? and at the bottom looks like a Rapala Fat Rap .

I cannot tell the size of the fly rod poppers.  They appear to be panfish size.  Bass poppers would be on a size 2 hook or larger.  Panfish are usually 8 or 10. Lots of fun on a Bream bed.  If you don't fly fish, you can throw them behind a small clear bobber.  More fun in my opinion on a fly rod, size 4rod with a floating WF line.  Bass rod would be a size 8.

Fun... I recognize most of them. A mix of old and new. Looks you like you are all set to fish. Only comment Ill make is on the hooks -they are bait hooks -probably for crappie. The reel, although nifty, will not suffice for serious bass fishing.
