Sifuedition Posted November 24, 2017 Posted November 24, 2017 I'm seeing a surprising number of Shimano Chronarchs on ebay for $140-200 that claim to be new. Honestly, it sounds too good to be true...so I assume it is. Any thoughts? Quote
Super User fishwizzard Posted November 24, 2017 Super User Posted November 24, 2017 You have to look at the seller and make the call. Usually the bigger places are above board. For what it's worth, Paypal's dispute system is heavily weighed towards the buyer, so it's usually safe to take a chance. 1 Quote
Ben Miller Posted November 24, 2017 Posted November 24, 2017 I find some great deals and outrageous deals on Ebay! 1 Quote
Super User Boomstick Posted November 24, 2017 Super User Posted November 24, 2017 I have used ebay to buy a few lures. The store I bought from was Tackle Supply Depot, and since I have visited their website and purchased more from them. They ship stuff out very quickly -- helps that they are only a state away too. What I do on ebay is I check the ratings, then read all the negative reviews so I can see what to expect if i don't have a good experience for example. Quote
Super User rippin-lips Posted November 24, 2017 Super User Posted November 24, 2017 As long as the seller has a 95% or more positive feedback then I don’t worry. Especially if it’s from a store and not an individual. As mentioned paypal is pretty good with buyer disputes. 1 Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted November 24, 2017 Global Moderator Posted November 24, 2017 I prefer to buy from stores and you can find some great deals doing so, but individuals with high ratings and lots of sales are solid options too. I buy almost all my reels off Ebay anymore because they can always be found for so much cheaper than in stores. Quote
The Bassman Posted November 24, 2017 Posted November 24, 2017 E-Bay's been my go to for a long time. Looking at a Curado K for 140.00 right now. Edit: Waited too long. Best deal is 154.00 now. Stuff comes and goes. Saw a Tatula CT the other day for 89.00. These prices are shipped with no tax. No brainer. Quote
Super User Jrob78 Posted November 24, 2017 Super User Posted November 24, 2017 I wouldn't have half the fishing crap I have now if Ebay didn't have such great deals from time to time. Somewhere along the way MAP pricing got lost on Ebay so it's the first place I go for new reels. Also, if you're in to JDM tackle don't hesitate to buy from overseas sellers with great reviews. Quote
DaveT63 Posted November 24, 2017 Posted November 24, 2017 It also helps to be patient. If you aren't in a huge hurry, the right deal will come to you. I recently found a like new JDM Steez 103 for $187. 1 Quote
Todd2 Posted November 24, 2017 Posted November 24, 2017 EBay is a great place to pickup good deals. I buy all of my Shaky/Ned/Grub jig heads from there. Occasionally I'll get reels from there. Rods are another thing, I like to hold them before buying. Quote
Lost.. Posted November 24, 2017 Posted November 24, 2017 Ebay is great for fishing gear/lures, etc. If I'd have had the cash I'd have picked up a few brand new Stradic FK 2500's that a store was selling for $105. As stated, check ratings and how many previous sales. That's usually a good indicator of who you're dealing with. Quote
Spy Posted November 24, 2017 Posted November 24, 2017 That's actually the going rate on Chronarchs, just make sure you factor in the shipping as the ones from Japan usually charge $20+ and are generally used. Sportsman's Guide had them for $176 late summer and Simmons Sporting Goods has one on eBay every week and they sell around $180 when bidding tops out. I picked up a new Chronarch MGL off eBay for $165 earlier this fall, a super deal to be sure but proves the point that they can be had if one is patient and ready to pull the trigger when the deal presents itself.
