Curious to know if anyone out there has tried the new Gen 4 Abu Revo Reels. How is the new X? How about the STX and Premier?

Loved my Gen 1 and 2, wasn’t a huge fan of he 3s, curious to know how the 4 compares.

I bought the STX and liked it so much I bought the Premier. Its about about preference of course. But, It seems like a lot of reels out there keep getting smaller and more compact. Gen 3 revos are an example of that. Which is fine unless you have big hands. The smaller the reel the more cramped my hands feel. And I didn't realize it until i picked up the new series. Both the gen 4 STX and Premier have large handles, knobs, and the reel in general. But like I said I have large hands so it might not be for everyone.

The larger reel also seems to do better with casting distance. and drag. I foul hooked a 15+ lb Gar. The drag was the smoothest i've ever used. And turned that fish without harsh slips.

It seems like the Gen 4 revos have little to no hype. Which is unfortunate because I give them an A grade on both.

I just got the X for my son. Kinda heavy buy feels super solid. He's 8 and just starting but can cast this thing no backlashes. For the price it's great imo.

I've switched my entire arsenal to the Gen 4 Revos I have the S, SX, STX and a Premiere. I love them all but in my opinion the SX is a superior reel at its price. Not to mention you can get a Revo SX on the bay for $80. They are a bit heavier than the gen 3s but also feel more solid. I am getting the same casting distance I get with all my reels but these seems to do it with littler effort. My parts only have bass in the 3lb range but the drag is smooth and never failed on these fish. I agree they are under rated reels. I think time will help these reels. A lot of people were turned off by the gen 3 that it will take time to regain the reputation they had.

They are Good! First reel I have that has a dual braking system. Which I like. Always been a abu guy. These are my favorite. At least mine are smoooooth. Not noisy.

I bought a sx this fall and so far it hasn’t let me down yet, I’ve been throwing squarebills and mid depth crankbaits with it and I’m pretty impressed with how far I’ve been able to throw lighter baits.
