As I said if Di and Si are important to you, dont get a Garmin.

Show me some. I had the top of the line 7608 and GT50 transducer and my images were identical to the ones shown. Grainy and blurry.

Pulled these off another forum. Pretty good images.

The one thing I'm dreading about having my own boat one day is learning to see what this stuff is. Looks like abstract art

Lol I'm still learning too. The top one appears to be a bridge. The other two appear to be a bunch of rocks on the bottom.

@Comfortably Numb you see the top image is from a 7610?

Most units show bridges good as they are so hard. Brush and pics are more difficult and what most fisherman are interested in

Here is a screen shot from a Bill Dance video for Garmin. Impressive LOL. This is more typical of the performance I got. Just tryin to help someone to know what to expect.

What are you expecting? )Lowrance is the same. Humminbird is the same. You upgrade to the HDSI transducer on the Humminbird you get better quality images, add MEGA imaging you're comparing apples and oranges even the Garmin and Lowrance guys will admit to that! Give it time! What are you expecting?

I have screenshots I can pull off my other computer in the next few days from my echomap. But I'll say two things: 1) Mega Imaging or a paper graph doesn't matter if your looking in the wrong place altogether. If you have a decent idea of what cover fish are holding on, MEGA is the best but the SI on the Garmin is enough to find what you need 2) The traditional sonar on the Garmin is my favorite part by far. It was ok on my old lowrance so I didn't use it too much, but now that I have real solid traditional on the Garmin I probably use that more than the SI.

Edit: Adding two more points. 3) Improper install, wiring, and set up and great way to make a unit disappointing. 4) Lets at least agree that the 'bird and the Garmin are both better than the Lowrance Elites. Their SI can't read past 30ft. I have shots of my Garmin reading 150ft off each side.

Okay here are some screenshots that I like. They aren't the best that have come up on the unit but are pretty solid. Also remember the detail of these on a 9" screen looks better than blown up on a 15" monitor.

Edit: Hold on, it won't let me upload them. Anyone have a favorite image sharer for here? Is Imgur allowed?

Edit Again: Check this album for some decent shots. https://imgur.com/a/R8d1U

I posted a lot more screen shots on the "other" board for review along with my install, I moved the transducer around but after comparing to other shots people posted I felt I was within reason of expectations.  The 93sv for $599 is capable unit, the 2d was very sharp and the GPS was fast.  Everything else was just OK at best in my opinion.

I did end up getting the Helix 10 SI, I did install it a few weeks ago but the weather around here has been pretty poor for the last 5 weeks so I haven't been on the water with it.

With any luck I'll get out next month and post some comparison shots, I will say the menu system and navigation between them is far better just sitting on the boat.  The SI/DI Enhance is going to make on the fly adjustments easier with the bird.  Also the bird basemaps have my lakes but lake any real detail like the garmin maps...Nothing new, same with navioncis.  I have been watching some youtube videos to get an idea of basic settings and what to adjust, benefit of the birds is there's a ton of that info readily available.

I think with the Helix 10 SI @ $825 it's a lot of unit for the $.  It's also apart of their "Select" group which get's you an extra year of warranty and some customer service perks.

Just to be fair it needs to be said that the Helix 10 SI comes with the HDSI transducer so you're comparing apples and oranges. The HDSI transducer produces better and more crisp images than a Garmin or Lowrance transducer.

So are you saying that you got the $1700 Helix 10 with mega for $825?

The one he is talking about does not have mega. It’s going EOL so anyone left with it is in the $800-$900 range for the most part.
