I'm looking for a budget crankbait rod to replace the rod I have been using becuase the guides just went and my line is seriously getting screwed up lol. I would like a rod that is MH with a Mod-Fast Tip. I don't have an expensive reel on there so I'm not gonna put it on like a $200 rod. My price would be like $100 or below or a like $120 rod that I can find on eBay or Amazon for cheaper. I did notice the Dobyn's Colt (they're new budget line) has a MH MF, but I wasn't sure about it. I would be willing to go up to like $110 GOOD rod.

Thanks for the help!

If you are going to use it exclusively for crankbaits I would take a look at Lightning rods, or some of the BPS rods. Those would be well within your budget.

I have looked at the KVD rods, but I saw really bad reviews on them. Say I got one and my rod breaks, do you know if their customer service is good?

I also saw the David Fritts rods, those were one of my other choices.

Never heard of them, but I will check them out.

The KVD tour rod is the one you want, normally sales for$150 some close outs are about $90 if you find them.

I like the older Fritts crankbait rods, the new model has a wide trigger that I don't like it, the rod is good.

Okay thanks... have you seen any closeouts on them lately? Also I miss read you earlier, I thought you said the normal KVD crankbait rod thats why I said I had seen terrible reviews. The Tour ones look great.

The rumors are KVD is dropping Quantum so retailers are closing out the signature rods. With Black Friday sales everywhere you should be able to find what you are looking for.

I bought 2 of the 7' MHM KVD Tour cranking rods for $30 each from Academy. The Ethos Composite Cranker from Academy is also a very nice, budget priced cranking rod.

You don't have to spend a lot of money to get a solid crank bait rod. You don't need crazy sensitivity and, IMHO, that money is better spent on good line, a quality reel, and your fast/x-fast rods used for bottom contact baits.  I have 2 Abu Veritas rods that fish great and for $85 apiece, I find them very hard to beat.  Ultimately, buy what's most comfortable for you - and it doesn't need to cost $150+.

Although it's not a crankbait specific rod the Denali Attax 7ft medium makes a great squarebill and medium diver rod.

Great for 1.5s ,wigglewarts, Rk Crawlers, 3XD's ect. Also would work for 1/4 and 3/8oz. spinnerbaits.

I just picked up a halo starlite from Wal-Mart for around 55 bucks. Although not a crankbait rod it has a moderate/moderate fast action. I will be using it for jerkbaits for sure and square bills possibly

That's a good deal, get them in store?

I think I'm going to get either the Dobyn's Colt or Fury or the St. Croix Bass X. They are a bit more expensive than what I wanted to spend (except for the colt but I'm not a fan of its looks), but they are nice rods. If anyone can suggest something better for the price or below the price, I will still be watching this topic so post it.

***edit*** I almost positive Im going to get the Okuma EVX cranking rod because it has the right specs and I found it for $75. I just got the Scott Martin rod and its AMAZING and this rod look like the same rod just a bit cheaper.

Okay... are you sure it was the tour KVd rods cause i don't see them on sale on-line, but the normal KVD rods are on sale. I have seen nothing, but bad reviews on those.

The new Quantum rods are listed at TW, no KVD signature rods are listed anywhere until he signs with a new rod maker.

That's the price I got mine from an eBay seller. I got the 7' 10" big plug/crank rod. Super light and balanced for the price.
