I am thinking of picking up the Villain 2.0 spinning rod for drop shotting. I have used a Veritas but the tip was so stiff it was difficult to DS with. How stiff or soft is the Villain 2.0 rods. I am looking at the 6'8" ML/XF or 7' M/XF. Currently I swapped the Veritas out for Fenwick HMX M/F and it is a lot better but just not geared towards the low weights I throw.

I have a 7'1" M/M Villain casting rod.  It's a great rod: light, strong, and sensitive.  I had a 6'10" ML Villain spinning rod that ended up at the bottom of Ponkapog Pond in 2016.  While I owned it, it was my favorite spinning rod, by far.

To answer your question, yes, they run stiff and a little heavier than their rating when compared to other brands I own (Fenwick, Kistler, St. Croix, G. Loomis, Diawa, Shimano, and BPS.)

Hope this helps....

I have the 6'10" ml/f villain 2.0, and while it does run about 1/2 power stiff, the tip is still plenty soft enough for drop shots IMO. I'm not much of a drop shitter though, so take it with a grain of salt.  I mostly use it for 1/8 ounce shaky head with 4 inch finesse worms, but if I ever get into dropshotting that'll be the rod I use.  Super light and sensitive to, although the micro guides are a bit brittle.

The Villain 6’ 10” ML’s tip runs midline: it’s just stiff enough where you can use it for soft baits and have good hook setting power but soft enough to load up for a good hard bait launch.

It’s a great all around rod.

I hung a Pflueger Supreme XT from it.
