I want to pick up some Gen 1 and 2 Revo SX reels. I started fishing baitcasters with the gen 1 SX and want to pick a few up (and possibly STX) reel to start a collection. I originally sold my Gen 1 for 2 and so on so now I have a couple gen 3 and gen 4. I cannot find any on Ebay (there is one and I am the winning bidder so far). However there is a used fishing gear trade in business like Gamestop. I went there looking at the few Gen 2 they have they are asking $100-$120 and have them marked as "collector reels". I never would have thought that Revos would be considered a collectors item or at least not this soon.

No. Sellers in all sorts of listings use headings like "vintage, collector, hard to find", etc. Now if you are a paper weight collector....

I thought I was in the minority for wanting to collect them and was hoping to find Gen 1 and 2 for around $30-$40 but when I seen them still over $100 I was sticker shocked.

Collector reels?  Revos?  Lol.  Good reels, but nothing distinctive or special about them.  Gen 2 had issues with the kick back plate, so much so that replacements were an improved part.  If you're looking for collector ABU reels, look to Swiss made round reels.  There's some investment in that department.

I'm not looking to create a high end collection just want the Revos, SX specifically, to feed my nostalgia.

2009 a good year?  Sorry, couldn't resist.  There's nothing wrong about picking out things you like.  I probably have more Alphas/Sol reels than anyone should have.  None are particularly fancy, but I like them.

Hey John - those Swiss-made Abu round reels are probably REALLY rare. However, you can still find the Swedish-made reels at reasonable prices...;)

(just yankin' your chain - I know it was just a slip of the keyboard...)

nothing wrong with poking good fun but I graduated high school and got a gen 2 revo for grad present and then the Gen 3 revo released when I graduated college and got one of those for a grad present along with the original Villain rod.

I had 5 or 6 1st Gen Revo SX and SC and liked them...except in the wind.  When I sold them after 5 years of use they still looked new but was lucky if I got half what I paid for them new.  As popular as they were I thought they'd bring more.:Idontknow:
