Hey hardcore Daiwa fans; where do you folks get your custom reel parts?  I know the Tackle Trap has some stuff, but most of it always seems to be sold out.  Any info would be much appreciated!

Handles and knobs: Hawgtech, or Daiwa itself.

Drag washers, bearings, grease, oil, tools: Smooth Drags

All sorts of parts, including spools, bearings, tools, and "dress up" parts: Hedgehog Studios

Does Daiwa have an online catalog hidden somewhere or do I just have to call them up?

Thanks btw!

With Daiwa, you can assume that most handles will interchange.  You have to know whet the knob and knob stem arrangement is, so not all interchange there.  Same with spool tensions.  I know of no parts catalogs.  I look up the parts diagram for the reels, get the part numbers, and call them direct.  Same for other companies, like Shimano.  I was able to put a longer E series handle with the bigger knobs on a Calcutta 200.  In another situation, I put a Revo Winch handle and knobs on an Ambassdeuer Wiffle spool, along with 3.7:1 gears for cranking for a customer.  You can do similar with Daiwa as well.  If you have questions about interchanging parts, just post up - lots of people have the knowledge.

After scouring the Daiwa website this morning, I figured I'd have to go that route. Thanks again for the info.

Hedgehog Studios in Japan is where to go if you're looking to bling your reel out. If you're just looking for different handles and knobs, those are readily available from various sources in the States, some of which you have already found.

I checked that stuff out.  Don't think I'm ready to drop serious dime on carbon fiber handles.  Mostly stock stuff and maybe different knobs.  I basically want a larger stock handle and upgraded drag washers for my SS SV.  I think the stock handle is the same as the Zillion SV, just smaller.

Carbon drag washers are on every one of the reels that are not part of my review arsenal.  I consider them a must have upgrade.  I generally set them up dry.

I'm guessing Carbontex?

Yes, call Dawn at Smooth Drags.  Good people that actually fish with their products.

I should have never looked at this thread. I am going to spend way too much money dressing up my Revos now.

Call Tackle Trap and they can get you what you’re specifically asking about. They stock Carbontex from smooth drag and it’s the same price. As for a longer handle, I’d go with the 90mm zillion tw handle. They can get you anything you want. They order parts from Zpi, Hedgehog, plat,Japan Tackle, etc.
