Garrett2 Posted November 14, 2017 Posted November 14, 2017 I can't decide what rod to get, I'm going to be using it for Texas rigs and jigs lighter than 1/2 oz. I've got the rod choices narrowed down to the: Duckett Ghost, Fenwick HMG, Fenwick HMX, Dobyns Fury, and the Lew's tp1 speed stick. Open to different rods but those are the ones I've heard the best things about, I'd like to stay around the $100 range. Thanks Quote
CroakHunter Posted November 14, 2017 Posted November 14, 2017 If you are pitching to cover or fishing vegetation I would suggest a 7ft mh tp1 speed stick. Its what I use to fish 3/8 and 1/2 ounce jigs. As well as 1/4 and 3/8 ounce Texas rigs. Love that rod, have 3 of the exact same rod. They do fish I touch heavy, so the medium heavy Would fish like a mag medium heavy. Never fished the fury, but I know they are great rods that seem to run a bit lightwe than labeled. If youre fishing open water i'd suggest the 704 or 734. I think those are the best rods that you have listed. Also look at the falcon Bucoo 7'4 heavy, and the Powell max 3d rod 7ft mh. Also lews makes the mach 2 speed stick and it is 20 dollars cheaper, may look into those as well. Youd have 20 More dollars to spend on line or tackle. 1 Quote
Super User WRB Posted November 15, 2017 Super User Posted November 15, 2017 Dobyns FR734C is a good rod at your price point. Tom 1 Quote
Garrett2 Posted November 15, 2017 Author Posted November 15, 2017 I think I'll try the Dobyns and see how that works for me, thanks guys Quote
Djohn Posted November 15, 2017 Posted November 15, 2017 I've used the HMG 7 ft medium heavy for about a year now and have nothing but great things to say about it. Nice sensitivity and the handle material has a nice feel especially when it gets wet. Quote

Thanks 6,10 ghost would be good for those aplications unless you like using braid to a leader, I would go with a Fury. Quote
