ghost Posted November 13, 2017 Posted November 13, 2017 I didn't want to spend money on one or two underspins. I already had some of the hardware needed, so I made my own and costs less and I have more than buying name brand underspins. And it works, as in the blade spins freely and adds that flash. I did this up last night and tested it today. No bass but the action works pefectly. Here's what I used. 1. VMC heavy duty weighted swimbait hook. 3/0 hook, 1/8 oz. You can use the size you need for the length of Fat Impact. 2. Keitech 3.8" Fat Swim Impact in Pro Blue 3. Cheap small swivel 4. 2 small split rings. 5. Small willow blade, pick the color or size blade you want, experiment. Find a split ring large enough to fit through the top where the eyelet is. I then installed the swivel onto the split ring. I then used super glue gel to glue in front of the 1/8 oz weight. I gave enough room on the bottom so the swivel can move side to side, instead of it being more on one side when the glue hardens. I let the glue dry, keeping an eye as it hardens that the swivel can swing freely. Not too loose, not too tight. I then put the other split ring on the bottom and installed the blade. Easy, the blade spins freely side to side when the tail is swimming. Only a few times the blade got fouled, but realized if I gave just a small jerk while the lure is sinking, it will free the jig to spin. There you go, Ghost's DIY for a boring Sunday. Fingers crossed my Frankenstein creation attracts a bass and all that work paid off. Good night, you may return to your regularly scheduled program. 3 Quote
Super User Deleted account Posted November 13, 2017 Super User Posted November 13, 2017 That will certainly catch fish, but I find in cold water I want an unincumbered blade and a straight tail with little or no action. YMMV (but it won't) Quote
