DSTN Posted November 11, 2017 Posted November 11, 2017 @fishwizzard - I haven't tried them but I think a Gambler Hollow Point might be what you're looking for with your weightless presentation. There is a cheaper option too called a Carolina Floater. Quote
Super User fishwizzard Posted November 11, 2017 Super User Posted November 11, 2017 Thanks! I had heard of the Carolina Floater, but not the other one. I had a pack of plastic screw-in "cones" from RI, but they seem to be discontinued. Quote
Kevinator1 Posted November 11, 2017 Posted November 11, 2017 Love the Rage Craws, Lobsters and Rage Bugs.....the only issue i have had is that i had 5 different packs that did not have the coffee scent that was listed on the label.....(looks like one of the employees forgot to put the scent in the batch that i bought) I always had the coffee scent on all of the others i have used....i did send back a pack to strike king as an example of the error, smelled just like plastic only. Haven't heard back from them yet but i'm sure i will soon. It's been about a week....otherwise great baits. Quote
Super User .ghoti. Posted November 11, 2017 Super User Posted November 11, 2017 Space Monkey, Lobster, Menace, Cut-R worm, and Shell Cracker. These are must have baits for me. 1 Quote
RHuff Posted November 12, 2017 Posted November 12, 2017 I use the space monkey in watermelon red flake and its deadly at my home lake flipping lilly pad fields. The structure bug in california craw, black, and watermelon red flake is sick used as a jig and chatterbait trailer.. Rage is my favorite brand on soft plastics.. Quote
Super User Oregon Native Posted November 12, 2017 Super User Posted November 12, 2017 Bug....Bug...Bug Quote
Super User Choporoz Posted November 12, 2017 Super User Posted November 12, 2017 Can't believe there's only one mention of CutR. Probably accounted for more fish the last two years than anything else I use....Bug is close second. CutR is so versatile...it can be worm, flipping creature, and swimbait..... on the same cast. Anaconda and long thumpers are my favorite bottom dragging summer trig wirms. Jigs have Rage chunks and craws 90% of the time. 6 Quote
Super User Senko lover Posted November 12, 2017 Super User Posted November 12, 2017 I use Rage Craws almost every time I go fishing. The Cut'R worm is also a pretty underrated bait but I've had some good success with it. Quote
hawgenvy Posted November 16, 2017 Posted November 16, 2017 I am into a million different types of bait. But of all of them, my overall most productive bait for LMB is the Rage Menace grub, simply t-rigged with a 4-0 EWG hook and a non-pegged 3/16 oz tungsten bullet weight. Blue/black or green pumpkin. I always break apart the tiny tail connector. I think having a bullet weight, at least a small one, makes a big difference with the Menace. With it the tail will kick as it falls, but without the weight it won't unless it is actively retrieved. The Menace is a great jig trailer also, a bit more subtle than the Rage Craw (which is an awesome trailer as well). 2 Quote
Kyhokie Posted November 16, 2017 Posted November 16, 2017 Menace on a 3/0 weighted swimbait hook. Absolutely killer bait for largemouth. Quote
craww Posted November 16, 2017 Posted November 16, 2017 Maybe this is one if those things Im just stubborn with and I guess I just need to give them more of a shot...Caught fish on the various craws /Lobster as Jig Trailers, they work and are fairly unique. But the rest if the line just hasnt been very impressive. The various creatures were so stiff you have to be moving them at a good clip to get action. The plastic is really lite weight, but for shallow cover Its almost too lite for weightless. Much rather use a GYBC flappin hog. Have some space monkeys, they look incredible but no fish. Tried the shad- when they were getting so much hype... mehh, I can throw a buzzbait anywhere it'll go more accurately, get a lot more bites with better hook ups, and it took some trickery to get it to keel right. The worm I tried had no action, actively tried it when they were slaying regular powerbait worms and nothing...they have almost no action unless they're moving or falling at a good clip. Maybe its mental as obviously people catch fish on em, but the rage rig deals with the big hook with lead on just mess with the profile of the bait to me. Again, Ive been wrong many times and may well be here, but I just dont get the hype by and large. 1 Quote
Super User bowhunter63 Posted November 16, 2017 Super User Posted November 16, 2017 Been a Rageaholic a long time,The Craw and Menace are great alone or as trailers. The baby swimmer is a Smallie killer. You won't be dissapointed. Quote

According to the inventor of the baits, anything other than the surface running baits require a 1/4 oz. weight to activate the flapping action. That info is on their rigging tips pages. So, it isn't really that your not getting the hype, just using the baits incorrectly, and therefore not realizing the results so many others have. Try again with proper rigging, and see if that works better for you. Quote
keltonz Posted November 16, 2017 Posted November 16, 2017 I have a few packages of the Menace but didn't realize how much people loved them here! Any recommendations on colors for different water clarity or target species? Quote
Super User J Francho Posted November 16, 2017 Super User Posted November 16, 2017 Color isn't really a biggie for me - Something black, something brown, something green, for low visibility to clear, in that order, is the general recommendation. 1 Quote
Super User Columbia Craw Posted November 16, 2017 Super User Posted November 16, 2017 I always have Rage Craws, Bugs and Space Monkeys in the boat. I know it's not Rage but the Rodent is a must have as well. Great product ! 1 Quote

MichaelCopeland Posted November 17, 2017 Posted November 17, 2017 Rage Bugs and Rage Swimmers have been good to me in watermelon red flake and green pumpkin colors. I really need to try the Craws, Menace, Space Monkey and CutR Worms though. I'll get around to them soon enough hopefully. Quote
Global Moderator Mike L Posted November 17, 2017 Global Moderator Posted November 17, 2017 The Cut R is my #1 plastic..In case you didn't know, when swimming rig with the flange down. For more vertical presentations rig flange up...It does make a difference Then The Bug and Craw. I've been useing the Recon worm more and more latley also. Mike Quote

Global Moderator Mike L Posted November 17, 2017 Global Moderator Posted November 17, 2017 Personally I think Rage plastics have the most action of any plastics you can buy, certainly better than the power bait line. But that's me. As was said, the one's with the tab should be pulled apart. I use the Cut R with it loose but leave it attached. Mike 20 hours ago, A-Jay said: Rage Bug ~ That is all. craww Posted November 18, 2017 Posted November 18, 2017 Lol yeah I understand the concept of tabs guys and know the manufacturer states they work with 1/8oz and up, when I mentioned weightless in was reference to others mentioning using non top waters weightless. 1 Quote

Super User roadwarrior Posted November 18, 2017 Super User Posted November 18, 2017 ALL Rage Tail products should have the appendages unattached. No exceptions. Quote
