Super User tcbass Posted November 6, 2017 Super User Posted November 6, 2017 I would like to purchase a pair of Costa sunglasses some day but would need to try them on as my face isn't good for normal sized glasses. Where can I try them on? I see that Costa makes like 300 different ones! Also, what's good for fishing, glass or plastic lenses? Quote
Super User J Francho Posted November 6, 2017 Super User Posted November 6, 2017 DSG and Field & Stream carry them. There's also their dealer locator on their website. You want glass. Quote
BassB8Caster Posted November 6, 2017 Posted November 6, 2017 Not too valuable info, but ill give it. After hearing the rave reviews about costas, i have kinda got it in my head that i would purchase a pair soon. I have always been happy with oakleys, but if i can get a better quality, im going to consider it. One day while loading up to go fishing, i noticed my brother in law had a pair of costas (im not sure which ones they were). I do know they were plastic / polycarbonate lenses. not glass. So i tried them on. I like the look of them, but to me personally, they were way too bulky. Its like the frames were thick. I really didnt like the feel of them. I am rather picky since i have a smaller face/head and its hard to get a pair to fit really well. I dont really want to feel them on, if you know what i mean. im currently wearing a pair of oakley 5 squared with polarized lenses that fit me perfectly. i paid around $70 for them a couple years ago. I also have a pair of the strike king s11 with polarized lenses. i paid like $20 for them. great value for the $. So i guess all you can take from this, is to make sure you try them on before purchasing. Especially if you have a tough time getting them to fit well/comfortably. Quote
Steveo-1969 Posted November 6, 2017 Posted November 6, 2017 Before I bought my pair of Costas I tried on a bunch of different frames at a Bass Pro Shop and found the frame that was most comfortable on my head. (Fisch for me!) I wasn't sure if I wanted plastic or glass lenses because some people complain about the weight of glass. I decided on glass and I don't even notice I'm wearing my glasses while fishing. I also like that the glass lenses are more scratch resistant. I used to wear Strike King S11 polarized glasses and they would only last a year before they were so scratched I couldn't see through them clearly. I've had my Costas for a year and the lenses are still completely scratch free. I bought my 580G glasses from Amazon for $180. Quote

tander Posted November 7, 2017 Posted November 7, 2017 Academy carries a good selection of Costas. As for me, I till take the plastic lens, don't like glass around my eyes. Quote
