I have a Shimano Sahara 3000 and an Abu Garcia Black max. I was wondering what y'all thought was the best # line for them. I don't know if I should use one pound for both or use two different pounds becuase one is a spinning and one is a baitcaster. Thanks!

What rod do you have each reel on?

What lures do you plan to use with each outfit?

I see Tom has replied with the same thoughts I have while I am typing.

No recommendations, but I can tell you folks are going to want to know what the reels will be used for in order to give decent recommendations.  What little use my spinning rods see is all for light weights.  What I use may not work at all for you.  A lot of people like braid for spinning reels.  I use it on a couple, but still prefer mono or co-polymer.

I prefer the same on my baitcast rods, but use a much wider selection of line weights.  First I look at the rods power rating.  Currently I use from 6# to 17# mono/co-polymer and 10# to 65# braid.

Sorry, forgot to mention that. I am going to use medium heavy fast action for both. The black max will be used with a 7' rod while the sahara will be a 6'6 rod. For the spinning rod I will be using it for mostly finessing and light baits. The baitcaster will be used for geting the bait of far and for heavier baits. Thanks again!

Shimano Sahara 3000 for finesse applications use 8-10 lb line

Black Max for texas rigs, jigs, spinnerbaits use 12-20 lb line. The heavier the cover, the heavier the line.
