I read about the boomerang tool and decided to get one.  I am truly impressed.  I use a lot of braid and it works very smoothly. This thing is a step ahead of other line cutters.  I also like the retractable cable on it.  I keep it fastened on my life jacket.  just wanted to throw this out there.

I, too, am a fan.

I will confirm rumors that cutting line other than braid can dull it over time.

I'm talking years, however, and that's acceptable to most; as that is longer than most cutters will last.

I have been able to squeeze an extra couple years out of mine by cutting braid way to the inside of the snip, and cutting fluoro, YZH, mono by keeping the line more towards the points.

I've never tried one but have also read good things. Best thing I've found for cutting braid are ceramic scissors. It will cut limp (not under tension) braid like butter. I don't know how long they last though. I've had mine a couple years but only cut braid with them. I have steel scissors for cutting mono and fluoro.

I bought one this summer and it's still going strong. Not a crisp of a cut as when I got it but still plenty usable. I've been pretty fed up with other cutters that even if it only lasts a year I'd tolerate it.
