Super User Oregon Native Posted November 1, 2017 Super User Posted November 1, 2017 This has made me kind of smile. I have noticed being in a club and sometimes having other boaters ride with me that they really hide behind my Triton's console when up on pad...especially in cooler months. I wonder "why" they themselves do not have dual's as they must certainly realize that it's frikin cold and buggy ridding in a single!? I know it makes me not really want to go in other single's (not that most care probably) and that's ok....fish a lot by myself. Anyway.....my thought/question for the day. Tight Lines Quote
Super User TOXIC Posted November 1, 2017 Super User Posted November 1, 2017 Space vs protection? The driver in any boat has the most perks because of the console and the steering wheel (in rough water). My thought is that I will be dressing for the conditions regardless if there is a second console because the amount of protection they provide is minimal at best unless of course you are in a multi-species boat or one with a full windshield. I have a dual console but honestly, you would have to lay on the floor to get any real protection from it. 1 Quote
BigAngus752 Posted November 1, 2017 Posted November 1, 2017 My wife says on our dual console. But she's 5'3 and a size 2 so she could hide behind a coffee cup in a hurricane. 2 Quote
Super User J Francho Posted November 1, 2017 Super User Posted November 1, 2017 I have a Bullet 21XDC. The consoles do just about nothing other than give you something to hold on to when I'm running at 85. 2 Quote
Super User Jig Man Posted November 1, 2017 Super User Posted November 1, 2017 I hate to go in the winter with a single console boat. For that reason I rarely go in those boats. I try to take mine. 1 Quote

At 85MPH, They'd need a protective, insulated, heated, enclosed compartment. 2 Quote
Super User J Francho Posted November 1, 2017 Super User Posted November 1, 2017 My buddy's Bullet is even faster. We picked up full mask motorcycle helmets at a garage sale for cold days. 2 Quote
Super User BrianinMD Posted November 1, 2017 Super User Posted November 1, 2017 When I was a co the additional console only provided something for me to bang my knees against when running spot to spot. Nothing against wind/cold. Quote
lonnie g Posted November 1, 2017 Posted November 1, 2017 i'm going with the dual console, I don't like to be cold. I guess I am getting old and whimpy! i also just think they look better. then when you say ,I didn't catch any fish , but I sure did look good!!! 1 Quote
Way north bass guy Posted November 2, 2017 Posted November 2, 2017 I've owned a dual console Triton, a dual console Lund Pro-V and now have a Smokercraft with a full walk through windshield, and I can say from now on I'm going full windshield for any future boats. Living in central Ontario, we're on the water in early spring and late fall when parts of the lake still have ice on them, just this morning I had to sweep an inch of wet snow off the cover before I launched. That full windshield sure is nice when it's this cool out, especially with the family onboard. I've not found the larger windshield to be any more of a nuisance than the smaller ones for casting, but it sure is nice for running or trolling for lakers in the snow at ice out. 1 Quote
Super User jbsoonerfan Posted November 2, 2017 Super User Posted November 2, 2017 I've fished out of both as a co. I would prefer the single all day, every day. When trying to net a fish, move to run the TM or just move to the back when hung up, a SC has always been my choice. I will bundle up, lean over, or even lay down if i need too, LOL. 1 Quote

Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted November 3, 2017 Global Moderator Posted November 3, 2017 My boat is a single but has a flip up windscreen that covers about as much as a dual console but is easily stowed and deployed to save space. 1 Quote
clh121787 Posted November 3, 2017 Posted November 3, 2017 Own a double, rode/fished in plenty of both. Much prefer a single. Unless. You own a legend v21or something so d**n big it don't even matter Quote
