I know this rod is highly recommended for deep diving cranks from 3/8 to 1.5 oz.  My question is does anyone use it for anything other than crankbaits?  The main reason I would get this rod is for 20'+ cranking but I have a secondary need for open water, spinnerbait fishing.  I know there are MH rods with moderate-fast action that are recommended for spinnerbaits but I haven't heard of anyone using this rod for that.  I have used 8' rods for casting spinnerbaits before and I was very pleased with my extra casting distance.  I am looking for a way to help justify the cost of this rod.  Any advice is appreciated.

I don't see why it wouldn't work. I have an Abu Veracity 7'11" MH Winch model (cranking) that I love using for tossing 3/4oz. spinnerbaits in deep water on Erie.

I use my crankbait rods for spinnerbaits occasionally. You have heard me say call Gary Dobyns a dozen times, he loves to talk about bass rods and may have a good deal for you.

I use this rod for my squarebills and I've also used it for spinnerbaits.  It does work well, it's a bit more stout in areas than the standard crankbait rod.

The sweet spot for that model is 5/8 to 7/8 of an ounce and it has quite a bit of power in the lower half of the rod so it should work pretty well for spinnerbaits.  I'm throwing my chatterbaits and larger spinnerbaits on a 736CB.  The 805CB RM would double up.
