Pro Logcatcher Posted October 31, 2017 Posted October 31, 2017 What stand up kayaks would you guys recommend? I'd like one with the foot pedals as well. Thank you! Quote
68camaro Posted October 31, 2017 Posted October 31, 2017 I have the Hobie Pro Angler 12, the Escalade of Kayaks, except maybe for the Pro Angler 14:) 1 Quote
Can't Catch Bass Posted October 31, 2017 Posted October 31, 2017 They all have their pluses and minuses depending on how you intend to use them both on and off the water. How will you be transporting it? What kind of bodies of water will you be fishing? Quote
Pro Logcatcher Posted November 1, 2017 Author Posted November 1, 2017 I'd prefer to keep it on top of the car (I'm not sure if some kayaks use trailers). It'd be nice to be able to fish it in both ponds and lakes, but not rivers. I don't have much experience in rivers, and there aren't many smallies down South. Thank you guys for your help! Quote
Can't Catch Bass Posted November 1, 2017 Posted November 1, 2017 If you're going to car top then weight should be a definite concern. I have a Santa Fe that I top with my kayak, a native Slayer propel 10. Mines around 60lbs when all broken down to the bare hull. I could have gone heavier, but I'm not getting any younger and after being out on the water some days for 10+ hrs I'm pretty beat and it can be a little bit of a struggle. There are load assist racks that you can put on your car to help, but my issue is I would have to remove them to park my car in the garage, so those were more trouble than they're worth. You definitely want to look at your own situation and try to plan accordingly. If it's a pain to use your kayak you won't end up using it much. 1 Quote
