I’m having trouble picking out what 6 rods and reels I want/need to get. I know what size rods and what gear ratio reels I want for each set up. But I’m not sure what brands to go with. Oh and by the way I need the reels to be left handed! Trying to keep each rod and reel set up between $125-$350 max.

I would say for reels I would look at Daiwa Tatula CT for all your setups. They can be bought around $100 from various places.

I'll list rods and gear ratios as how I would pair them

1) 7'5" Irod Genesis II Fred's Magic Stick with a 8:1 ($250 total)

2) 6'6" Duckett Terex M/MF with a 7:1 ($250)

3) 7' Phenix Glass Crankbait M/M with a 6:1 ($240)

4) 7'2" Phenix M1 MH/F with a 7:1 ($275)

5) 7'1" Phenix Bass Recon MH/F with a 7:1 ($290)

6) 6'10" G Loomis E6X Mag Med Drop Shot Rod with an Ardent Bolt ($270)

Whatever you choose be brand loyal. You will be more comfortable with each setup. I regret not being more brand loyal. I will be going forward.

For reels look at the Lews line. The Tournament MB is is a great value. I find that Lew's reels at any price point are better values than most other mfrs at the same price point.  I also like the Fenwick HMG and HMX lines of rods for the price. You can usually find a HMG or HMX for under $100 but they fish like more expesive rods.   At the $150 or so price point I really like the Shimano Crucial rods. For a little less money the Shimano Clarus are also really nice rods.

If you shop around you can park a Lews Tournament MB and a Fenwick HMG for under $200 for both.

If it were me, I would up the crankbait rod to a MH.  Sometimes those deep diving crankbaits are a chore to reel back in.

1. Dobyns Fury 765c -Daiwa Tatula CT TACT100XS

2. Dobyns Fury 705cb - Daiwa Tatula CT TACT100HS

3.  Dobyns Fury 705cb - Daiwa Tatula CT TACT100H

4. Dobyns Fury 735c - Daiwa Tatula CT TACT100HS

5. Dobyns Fury 734c - Daiwa Tatula CT TACT100H

6. Dobyns Fury 702s - Shimano NASCI 2500

That's exactly what I would choose and I would never feel that I'm a disadvantage with them.

Also, check the "bidding" sites for the best price on the reels, you can save a ton brand new.
