looking for freshwater boat ramps near northport, preferably at locations known to hold bass.    I know i got a lot of lakes within a two hour drive of me like sebring, lake placid and okeechobee and those are great for when i have a full day but id like to find something closer that i can hit for an hour or two with my daughter after school during the week.

Any suggestions or recommendations?  Keep in mind my f150 is 2wd so i need an actual ramp.

Turn east off RT 41 on to North Port blvd.

Turn right into parking lot just across the bridge.

Ramp will be on your right at the end.

That canal is called Coco Plum waterway (9 mile canal)

If you follow Hillsboro Blvd south which parallels the canal, there are places all along it to fish from the bank if you want, Mostly at all intersections.

IMHO, That canal has always produced the most and largest bass in the area.

There may be other public ramps around there but I never had a reason to look.

In about another month there will be beds about 1/2 mile south around a big boulder in the middle of the canal for about a mile.

There also will be beds south of San Mateo Blvd and near the end.

Good Luck

That's the canal I've been going to almost every day cause i live within 3 or 4 miles of it.

Was just looking for different waters to check out.

Have you ever fished shell creek or the reservoir it runs into?

Sure

Shell Creek holds bass as well. There is a local club that fishes that every month and they do well.

You said you wanted a No Port ramp thats why i didn't mentioned it.

I didn't mean north port specifically.  Just the general area.  A 30 minute drive works cause it still gives a good hour of fishing before we got to get used back to the ramp to load up.

Spent five hours on the canal today and got skunked.  Not even a bite.
