TxHawgs Posted October 27, 2017 Posted October 27, 2017 Bought some a while ago and threw one last evening. Caught 5 on it, 2 5s a 4 a 3 and a dink. The thing is jacked lol, wire will never be like it was. Now I fished till dark so I'm not sure really how it's running with how I was able to straighten the wire out. And I'm not complaining I don't care but is it normal not to get many fish out of these baits? Quote
Super User gim Posted October 27, 2017 Super User Posted October 27, 2017 My buzzbaits and spinnerbaits used to get all jacked up and kinked and bent because I used cheap steel frame ones and there is a serious abundance of pike around here. The cavitron is a steel frame even though it is a higher quality buzzbait. I only use Terminator series buzz and spinner baits now that are titanium frames. They last a lot longer and hold their strength/shape after many fish. They cost more, but the durability is worth it. Quote

Super User tcbass Posted October 28, 2017 Super User Posted October 28, 2017 Cavitrons are the best buzzbaits imho. We've caught a ton of fish on them. And I've used a lot of different brands. It seems most will last years but every once and awhile one gets destroyed rather easily. Since we've gone to Whopper Ploppeds though we don't use buzzbaits anymore. Quote

They can be worked slower than my old stand by Lunker Lure and my homemade lures . So far I havent caught much on them but thats just the way it works sometimes . The pike and bowfin can destroy a buzzbait in no time. The same can be said about boat flipping 4+ pound bass with them. For the most part though, my Cavitron's usually last me quite a few fish. 1 Quote

I fish buzzbaits on braid and I have never bent out a hook on a Cavitron. 2 Quote

The only wire I know of that broke was on a Storm Wild Eye Shad spinnerbait which had a very thin wire . It broke after less than a dozen fish while fighting a small bass . I didnt buy another one . Never had one break and caught a lot of bigger bass and northerns on them. Quote
