RenegadeBassin Posted October 27, 2017 Posted October 27, 2017 I have a problem. I bought a helix 10 mega si g2n for my lund renegade and it won't fit in the console without some overly risky modifications. I decided that I am going to mount it off to the side of my console somehow and then get a helix 7 with just gps for my console to replace the little $80 unit thats in there now. Here is my question, where in the world can I find a mount to fit the Lund Pro Trak system? I wouldn't like to have to drill a mount in the boat somewhere if I don't have to, but there is hardly anything about Pro Trak anywhere that I can find. Any suggestions from you Lund guys? Quote
Super User A-Jay Posted October 27, 2017 Super User Posted October 27, 2017 While I do not have the exact model Lund - My Pro-V Bass boat does have the Pro Trax system as well. I would not recommend attempting to attach a mount & a 10" Helix unit to it. The weight of a quality mount & the unit itself really needs to be "securely" fastened (insert BOLTED). I don't think the Pro Trax is designed to provide that. While a vessel is at speed there is a considerable level of vibration & stress transmitted through the mount to the connection point; especially in conditions other than flat calm. Having insufficient mounting rarely ends well and often includes some type of failure, damage, possible loss of the unit over the side and perhaps even personal injury. My advice would be to invest in quality mount that secures to the deck to the right of the console. BalZout Electronic & T-H Marine Electronics both make quality mounts. http://www.balzoutllc.com/humminbird-mounts http://thmarine.com/th-marine-products/boating-accessories/electronics-mount A-Jay Quote
Super User J Francho Posted October 27, 2017 Super User Posted October 27, 2017 Doesn't that protrac support trolling gear and what not? If it can hold a 25# ball and down rigger, it can hold a graph. Pretty sure ther's a way to do it. @S Hovanec???? Quote
Super User S Hovanec Posted October 27, 2017 Super User Posted October 27, 2017 I have my HDS 10 on the pro track on the bow using the plastic Pro-Trak pieces from Lund. My downrigggers are mounted on a piece made by Cisco Fishing Systems to fit in the Lund track. This might be the route you want to take. They also make electronics mounts. They do custom orders and may be able to make you a mount combining the Lund downrigger mount and one of their other products. Give them a call. They're real easy to deal with. 1 1 Quote
Super User J Francho Posted October 27, 2017 Super User Posted October 27, 2017 That's exactly the product I was thinking of, or similar. Thanks! Quote
Super User S Hovanec Posted October 27, 2017 Super User Posted October 27, 2017 Here's the HDS on the bow. Don't have a pic of just the mount. 1 Quote
RenegadeBassin Posted October 27, 2017 Author Posted October 27, 2017 I think I have found a solution to the problem. I ended up going into my Lund dealer and picking up a sport trak angled mounting plate. I installed it upside down into the pro trak and it actually came out fine. It feels extremely sturdy. From here I will get a ram mount and fasten that to the plate and I should be good to go. 1 Quote
Super User S Hovanec Posted October 27, 2017 Super User Posted October 27, 2017 Here's how my sonar is mounted in the front. Those are 2 of the OEM Pro-Trak mounts. 1 Quote

RenegadeBassin Posted October 28, 2017 Author Posted October 28, 2017 Anyone have any suggestions for what screws I should use on that plate? Quote

The largest that will fit through the holes in the Ram base. Stainless with nylock nuts. No longer than necessary. 1 Quote

Lures'n'Liberty Posted October 30, 2017 Posted October 30, 2017 Not sure about the particular track system, but it looks an awful lot like it will accept readily available "Track Nuts." You can find them on Amazon and a ton of other places online for a buck or 2 each, maybe even your local hardware store. If you're handy, you can mount about anything on them. Quote

What it is an electronics package that lund offers. Hook 3x, Minn Kota edge 45, and an onboard charger. The dealer told me when he set the boat up he had the beginner bass fishermen in mind. So far I've swapped out the edge, I'm removing the hook 3, and I have a bad feeling i'll have to switch up to a bigger charger to support all the electronics I'm putting on it cause i'll need another battery. Super User J Francho Posted November 2, 2017 Super User Posted November 2, 2017 You should be able to sell that Hook 3 unit pretty easily. The kayak crowd loves them, and it's light enough to ship anywhere. 1 Quote
