I been drop shotting for a few years now and have noticed my braid will get a lot of line twist, check your leader knot
when you reel up your drop shot, that is how I noticed it, the braid is spun tight.
I usually remove this by cutting off my leader and letting 50 yards trail behind my boat....

I make sure my baits are as strait as possible, I flip my bail by hand (always have)

I wonder if going to a swivel would be the best option, I have also used the VMC spin shot but I don't feel like
my drop shot gets the right action using that hook.

Maybe I will give the spro power swivel a try.

You are using a spinning reel so line twist comes with the territory.

It is impossible to stop line twist, but you can minimize it.

Try using 100% braid for the entire setup. No leader. No swivel. No spin shot. By doing this you eliminate the weak spots in your line setup. A pro told me to use braid in lieu of fluorocarbon or mono for drop shotting and flipping and pitching and so far it has worked beautifully.

Make sure you are spooling your spinning reel as suggested on this site, making sure the line goes onto the spool in a counter clock-wise direction.

Try using line conditioner of your choice when spooling the line onto the reel.

The guys will give you other suggestions to try so do what they suggest, too.

Just remember it is not you or your technique causing the problem. Line twist is a part of fishing with a spinning reel setup.

For majority of my drop shotting and split shotting I use fluorocarbon. Light line on spinning reels. I do use a swivel. I do use braid for some Crankbait fishing but have a Fluoro leader without a swivel. Even my braid is on the light side. Power Pro.

I have never had any issues with line twist, only with drop shot and it not really a problem, I can just

see the braid twisted up.

I use braid to flourocarbon leader using a FG knot, I just wanted to see if using a swivel to connect

my braid to flourocarbon would be there better option.

Just remember, every knot is a weak place in your line.

If possible, use the entire length of braid or fluorocarbon lines from your reel to the weight when drop shotting to avoid those knots that create weak places.

What brand and style drop shot weight are you using?

Just a thought on drop shot weights. I pinch on split shot. Pulls off easy and I don't loose or mess up my rigs. Give it a try. Not sure of any advantage to how drop shot weights are designed.

I'm a straight fluoro guy for a lot of my rods, especially spinning. One trick if you do get a bit of twist ( which is gonna happen eventually with spinning rods), is to cut off your bait and let most of your free line behind the boat to troll it along for a few minutes. This'll untwist it fairly well, then just reel up, retie and off you go again.

Eco pro tungsten and swagger tungsten, I have them both in cylinder and tear drop.

I'm not worried about my knots, today I hooked into a log with 8lb braid to 8lb flourocarbon and dragged the log to my boat, that was with a swivel, d**n thing must have been 30lbs.

Both good weights for rocks and maybe rolling on flat hard bottoms. Flat bottom weights will prevent rolling.
