jmcarriere Posted October 27, 2017 Posted October 27, 2017 Ok everyone since my open water season is pretty much over i am going to be getting organozed this wi ter for next season couple questions. 1 is what do all you co anglers store your soft plastics in to not take yp to much room in your bag but still habe plenty of them with you. And 2 what bag do you guus use Quote
SuperCorona Posted October 27, 2017 Posted October 27, 2017 I keep my soft plastics in their original bags and keep those bags in a couple of BassMasters bags. Quote
Bucky205 Posted October 27, 2017 Posted October 27, 2017 Lots of options. I use an inexpensive Berkley, it was like $10 at Wally. Holds 60 packs of plastics and is the same size as Plano trays. If I'm fishing as a co-angler the Berkley bag and a couple of trays in a backpack cover a lot of techniques. If I'm in my boat, it is small enough that it fits really well in storage compartments. Chance_Taker4 Posted October 27, 2017 Posted October 27, 2017 I use the Plano4487-20 bag the main compartment can hold 4 3700 boxes. I use a standard 3700 for all my jigs and chatterbaits. A second standard 3700 with all my hardbaits. A shallow 3700 for terminal tackle and a Deep one compartment 3700 for all my plastics. I can hold about 30 packs of plastics in that box. Plus I can hold spinnerbaits, culling system, scale, extra reel, extra line. I have been complimented by boaters on how organized my system is. 1 Quote
Super User fishballer06 Posted October 27, 2017 Super User Posted October 27, 2017 I thought it was common practice to just use the boater's plastics and tell him you'll pay him back next time? 2 Quote

I was thinking abput using a 3700 deep for my plastics and was thinking of getting the plano guide 3700 for my bag not becaise i have that mich tackle bit also for my rain gear and stuff. Quote
Super User WRB Posted October 27, 2017 Super User Posted October 27, 2017 Whenever I take a partner fishing or go as a partner my first task is to determine what the current bite is. It's impossible to cover every situation as a co angler, you need to be able to concentrate on no more than 4 rod/reel combos and 1 tackle bag. To this you must be organized and know what you have so you can pack it up easily. I keep my soft plastics organized by presentation, size and color; drop/slip shot 5" straight tails, Shad colors or purple, oxblood and greens for examples. I have 17 large Plano boxes of soft plastics ready to go in my boat and take 2 of them when fishing in someone else's boat. I take 1 terminal tackle box with weights, beads, keepers, pegs, clips etc. 1 box of worm hooks. 1 box of jigs and trailers. 1 box of crankbait and top water lures if that is the bite. 1 spinning rod/reel and 3 baitcasting outfits when fishing as a partner, keep 15 in my boat all the time. Tom I definitely understand that. I see no need to have more then 4 or 5 plano boxes prganozed by rod plus a box or 2 for my soft plastics Quote
Super User WRB Posted October 27, 2017 Super User Posted October 27, 2017 Plano Guide Series 2 tiered 3600 boxes are good for terminal tackle and the larger 3700 standard or deep boxes work good for me for soft plastics, 3600 size for jigs. I have special boxes for my expensive swimbaits, wake baits and rats. Label the boxes so you can read them easily, saves lots of time organizing and selecting tackle. Tom Quote

Chance_Taker4 Posted October 27, 2017 Posted October 27, 2017 I take 4 planos in my bag, 5 rods and a backpack to hold my lunch and rain gear. I have never had an issue with a boater about bringing too much stuff. 95% of the time the boater gives me a small compartment in the back and space in his cooler so I put my lunch in the cooler and my rain gear in the compartment. That leaves only the tackle bag on the floor under my feet at the passenger seat. Quote
