Whats going on fellas? Haven't been out to US 27 since early summer. Wanted to find out if anyone had been out there recently and had any info on how it is out there.

I am guessing water is still high? Wondering if the fish are in the canals or have moved into the flats?

Any info would be great, I have a buddy coming in from out of town and was thinking of taking him out there.

Thanks in advanced.

I tried to hire a guide for Thursday in Everglades and he said water still too high and boats aren't allowed yet. He mentioned deer are in flats areas and stressed already.  We are going to lake north of Miami instead.

Hmm, that might depend where in the glades. But that was what I was afraid of. If the water is too high the fishing may not be too good even if they do allow boats into the canals.

I was out at Holiday Park yesterday on a boat trial. The water was in the parking lot. At theses levels the fish are scattered in the flats. It’s just not worth Fishing the canals right now till levels fall.

I was in the north end of the Loxahatchee Preserve last week.  Water was really high.  The dock at the ramp was flooded.  The fishing was really tough, caught a bunch of small ones but everything large is way back in the flooded flats.  The water is going to have to come way down before I go back...

I ended up going to US 27 after posting. Sorry never reported back.

I ended up catching a three pounder on the frog and missing a few bites. My friend caught a total of 7 fish. One was also around 3lbs the rest were smaller.

The fish seem to be out there but the fishing is tough.

As far as Lox, I went a few weeks ago with Geo G and we caught a total of 30 between the two of us. Nothing of notable size. 2lbs was probably the biggest. Lots of dinks.  Still a fun morning.

Okeechobee and Istokpoga are out of the question for me. My jon boat motor isn't reliable. I like to stick to places I can get back to the ramp on my TM.

Anytime the bass can escape to the food rich grass flats, fishing in the canals will be tough.  The flats at Loxahatchee will still produce, especially going into the spawn, and you can maneuver back to get some.

The canals in the Holey Lands might be good, since the bass are locked into the high banks.  They have no flats to wander off into.  The only down side there, is dodging the bullets.
