Outdoors Posted October 19, 2017 Posted October 19, 2017 Guys, I've fully managed to get a good amount saved up, and these are the reels I'm looking at buying in hopefully a week or so. Short question: Is the DC worth the extra cost? Quote
scbassin Posted October 20, 2017 Posted October 20, 2017 I have both reels & you will not go wrong with either one. I use my MGL pretty much for bottom fishing, worms etc. The DC mostly for moving baits, lighter crankbaits, spinnerbaits, stickbaits etc. & on windy days for everything. knowing what I know now & could afford either one I would choose the DC because of the wind factor. The reel is fairly easy to set up also. Hope this helps 1 Quote
Yudo1 Posted October 20, 2017 Posted October 20, 2017 I don't have the met dc, but I do have the met mgl and exsence dc and I will say the dc is pretty cool. I would go with the DC. My exsence absolutely rockets a frog and it can be set up to be backlash proof in heavy winds and night fishing. I also like the DC "whine." Quote

Looking for the big one Posted October 21, 2017 Posted October 21, 2017 I have an old Metanium Mg DC7, and the D.C. System is bad***, worth it in my opinion. Super long casting, great braking. And that's the old DC system, not the updated one. 1 Quote
Super User new2BC4bass Posted October 22, 2017 Super User Posted October 22, 2017 Never used either of those reels, but recently picked up an older Exsense DC. Only been out with it once so far, but love it already. No thumb is needed in F, FP, BB or Max. And this is with the spool set very loose. Even used it was expensive...for me...but I'd buy more DC reels in a heartbeat if I could. Quote

Looking for the big one Posted October 22, 2017 Posted October 22, 2017 Cleaning the chip isn't necessary, it's sealed in the reel. I would send it to a professional for cleaning if I did think it needed cleaning, but I doubt they would do much to the actual chip. Quote

You need to look at Japan Lure Shop , Japan Angler or Digikata for starters......If you really want the DC experience save a few more dollars and get the 16 Antares DC..... 11 hours ago, Outdoors said: How how often you guys have to clean the chip? There is a glass eye that you may have to clean and very rarely, like if it stops whining......very simple to do with a Q Tip and some alcohol. Quote

Now if you want to talk about casting distance , fun factor and of course the whine thats another story....... Quote

But on casting distance, how does the DC Metanium compares to the non-DC MGL Metanium? Quote
scbassin Posted October 23, 2017 Posted October 23, 2017 You are over thinking this. The Scorpion DC 101 HG weight is 215 grams. The Metanium MGL XG weight is 175 grams. Quote

I've just looked at the 12 version of exsence. Extremely far casting real, with a great color to it, but how hard would it be to find parts for a real that age? Quote
Outdoors Posted October 26, 2017 Author Posted October 26, 2017 On other note, Amazon also has the 12 version of the DC Exsence. Could anyone give me their view on its casting distance? Quote
Looking for the big one Posted October 26, 2017 Posted October 26, 2017 Definitely far enough. 1 Quote
