2023 Workout year in review ~

Man what a ride, from January straight through December.

From rehabbing a bum knee, to trying to keep my poop in a group

while my wife's heath sputtered.

And as important as the 150 plus workouts completed were,

maintaining the required deal for the 210 non-workout days,

was even more critical.

Seems every year the energy needed to keep this train on the tracks

continues to increase.

No magic beans, or no secret diet or workout system.

Just 40 plus years of grinding.

Started 2024 the same way I've started the previous 43 years.

Fighting gravity.

Total Body Day 2 was on tap and I was reasonably motivated for it.

Getting after it today...which is good, I need the head space

EDIT

Felt surprisingly great today. Made a change to my warm up routine and have added a half kneeling windmill to open up my hips, provides t-spine extension and rotation and mobility in the shoulders. Just sets up for a fluid workout. 1 more tomorrow to end the week.

Have a good weekend. :)

Total Body Day 4 this morning.

Went into this one feeling pretty good and came out the same way.

Plan on taking a couple of days off and will be coming back with a different workout plan.

Just to change it up.

Going with a Legs-Push-Pull Double 3 day split.

Used it in the past with decent results.

I'll post the workout details in front of the 1st session on the 9th of Jan

and each one there after.

The new workout starts with a Leg Day.

Went well.

I'll be interested to see how my humanness responds and recovers from these.

Short term & long term.

Time will tell.

Program looks like a winner @A-Jay, best of luck with it.

Today was one of those magical days where everything felt right. Felt strong start to finish. Joints were warm and mobile which, to me, means that flexibility was on point. Felt very stable with strength work as well. Most of all, head space was focused and very positive.

It's been a few weeks where I've been able to maintain a consistent workout schedule which is key for me. Nutrition is coming back...of course that's always the hardest part of the whole health train, isn't it? :)

Thanks and good for you.

Nutrition is a biggie for sure.

For me it's like the engine that drives the train.

It might be just a mind set but when my diet & hydration are on point,

just about everything else falls in line;

training, recovery, sleep, appetite and most importantly,

I don't want to waste my efforts so I can't wait to get back into the gym.

I'm no spring chicken and I have no idea how long this will last,

but I'm going to take it as far as this old bag of bones will allow.

Stay Right my friend.

Little sore today @A-Jay? :)

Had a great workout today. Felt great and head space was there again. Hoping to get out of this funk I’m in soon.

Hope you have a great weekend. We got some heavy rains coming in tonight and tomorrow I’m hoping to get my generator up to Maine and get it ready to go for whenever. :)

When I'm doing this right, I am at least a little sore everyday.  Off days for sure and then it starts all over again.

Probably a bit addicted to the DOMS feeling after all these years.

Glad you

had a good workout.

Safe travels.

Pull day for me tomorrow.

Back at it today. Weekend was derailed with the record storm surge in Maine. Whole beach community was under water.

Felt great start to finish today.

Back to work tomorrow. Will probably do some maintenance to get ready for Wednesday’s bout with the iron.

Looks like you’re settling right in to the new program @A-Jay!

Eased into the T-Bar Rows as I haven't done them in a bit.

Rest of this one went well.

Pull 1 workout today.

At 64 years old, sometimes the hardest part of the entire workout is just getting in the gym.

Was today.
