The more challenges life throws my way,

the more important these workouts become.

Not always pretty, but I try really hard to get them in.

This was one of those.

After a couple of really gorgeous and busy off days, I am back in the home gym.

Total Body 1 and it went well.

At some point in the near future, I'm expecting to be getting out fishing.

So while I'll still be training when I can,

these workout videos will be replaced by fishing videos for a few months.

Can't wait.

Weather has been such that my off days from training have been fishing days.

So I've been able to fish & workout, sticking with the day on & day off deal.

Just haven't posted a workout video here in a bit.

The fishing is fun but the workouts are why I'm able to, so there's no omitting them for me.

Didn't fish this morning so I was back in the home gym for Total Body 1.

Modified these to match my energy level, meaning I'm dropping the workouts down a notch.

Leaves gas in the tank to fish the next day, like tomorrow for instance.

Im definitely not at your fitness level man. Started my "get healthy" journey in October. I am 5'11" and was at 307lbs. Fast forward to last monday and Im now 246. I'm pushing for 225 as it is where I was most comfortable when I was a gym rat. Just started with free weights at home, i'll put up some pics soon.

Awesome ~ !

Way to take control & responsibility for your own well being.

Not sure how far down the road you are,

but IME none of this gets any easier with time.

Staying healthy is less of a journey vs 'getting healthy' at any age.

Keep it rolling.

Total Body 2 this morning.

Threw a couple of super sets into this one.

Felt pretty good.

Sporting the Playoff beard - still needs some time, lots of time.

Sure hope we get it.

Born in '72 thought he was doing a leg day two days ago, but it turned into all tricep and lat soreness until this morning. I guess all the pumping on a skateboard in bowls and pools has put me in a place where I need to up the deal when it comes to leg day.

"They" say The Legs are the first thing that goes . . . . .

May be true but for me it was

Finished a swim workout this morning. First one since my shoulder problems. It went great. No issues. Swimming motions were the most painful thing for me in physical therapy. Amazing. I was convinced at one point that I was never going to regain full health of my shoulders. Now I’m convinced that I can get at least close enough

You were right. It needed rest to start with. Once that was taken care of, it was time for physical therapy. But I think after talking through things with you after my injury, taking a break whenever I could from painful activities was a smart thing for me to do. Taking a break from fishing was a smart thing to do. It might have granted me a lot more fishing time in the future. Thank you sir

Thanks for the inspiration. Lost a bit over 50 lbs in 2022 and have about 15 more to go in '23 to get where I should be.

You're Welcome and thank you for the support.

That type of body recomposition takes real determination.

Congrats & Good Luck moving forward.

After an extra off day (which I spent on the water thank you very much)

I was back in the home gym this morning fighting gravity & old age.

Clearly, both are a losing battle but I'm not going down without a fight.

Focusing on maintaining as much strength, balance & flexibility as I can.

Workout one this morning and over all, it felt pretty solid.

Haven't updated this one in a bit.

Seems I may have jinxed myself with that previous entry.

I managed to tweak a hamstring loading the boat earlier this month.

Makes my knee (R) mostly unstable & comparably weakened.

Been out of the gym & waiting for this deal to heal ever since.

May has not been good to me recently.

Last year it was Covid and now this.

Might be June (or later) before I'm actually able to get back in the gym.

Trying to stay positive but I can't fish either

so there's a added level of frustration I'd rather not have to manage.

More to follow . . . .

After 3 weeks to the day, I’m able to move my knee through its normal full range of motion,

mostly pain free.  First trip back into the home gym this morning, however this was clearly almost completely a REHAB (and not a ‘workout’) at this point.

No training means no appetite for me, so I’ve probably lost a few pounds.

Expect the process to reverse itself and get me back to my fighting weight.

Which on my best days, is in the middleweight class.

(And it’s a battle to keep that for this old guy).

First day back is always a mix of tempered excitement and a reality check.

This was that.

Planning on an every other day deal if the knee 'responds' well.

Have had  major surgeries over the last 4 years. 76 YOA now and have found it takes about a month to get my strength back. I work out about 5 times per week and know there is muscle memory that helps recovery if you stay in shape. Look forward to your posts.  Decided 10 years ago to stay in shape so I could continue the activities I enjoy
