Good deal, man. I had to take a few of days off, unfortunately. On vacation starting tomorrow. I'll bring a couple of things with me to hopefully get back at it.

Hoping to feel normal by the end of vaca.

Keep trucking brother.

When the spirit is willing but the flesh feels weak,

I put my head down, grit my teeth and grind it out.

That's how Total Body 1 went this morning

and when it was done, it was good.

Total Body 2 this morning ~

Did Step Back Lunge w/front leg elevated, Leg Extension, Calf Press,

Over Head Shoulder Press, Body weight Pull Up, and finished with a Leaning Press.

Did two true working sets, showing the last one here.

Keeping the calorie count above maintenance which is fun for a while,

but I'll need to back off in a couple of weeks.

Are you eating to gain weight? When was the last time you had a bowl or cone of ice cream?

Working to get back some of what it seems like I lost during my Covid experience in May.

At going on 63 in a couple of weeks, not sure how much muscle I can or can not build, but if I stand any chance I need to feed the machine.

Either way I've gotten a good deal of my strength back, still have a ways to go.

And I'm not a big ice cream or sweets guy.

But I had a big fat pizza, sweet heat wings and a Greek salad with Feta on Friday.

So that was pretty good.

What do you do when you go on a vacation for a week or more staying in motels........ visiting friends and you have no ability to workout the way you are scheduled at home?

I'm retired so I'm always on vacation.

But seriously , I always felt like I had 3 choices.

And also know whatever went on it would most likely not be a 'real' workout, more like mainainance.

But felt good to Do Something.

1. When selecting accommodations, I either booked a place that had a small gym on site

or was close to a commercial gym I could go to and pay to train.

2. Another option was to 'train' right in my room.  Body weight and resistance bands exercises are an  effective way to get in some work.  They are 'quiet' and you don't need a lot of space.

I use these in the home gym.  https://ironinfidel.com/collections/gym-gear

3. Take the time off.  When I was going to be on an extended stay somewhere and the opportunity and especially the 'time' wasn't there for me to make the above happen, I'd plan for it and use the time to 'vacation' from the gym as well.

Not the end of the world and if you've been going hard for a couple of months, you'll benefit from the deload.  Perhaps just don't eat the entire buffet table at the Holiday Inn Express.

Total Body 1 this morning.

This was a good one.

The kind that makes me feel like I can redefine what's possible.

Not exactly sure why, but I've always really liked training on Sunday mornings.

Knocked out Total Body 2 and it went well.

Not a big sweets guy myself either. Much rather have pizza or wings.

I often travel for work and have to make my own lodging reservations. I always try to select a hotel that has 1) a pool, 2) a fitness room, and 3) free breakfast.

It deserves respect! Takes dedication and discipline to stick to any workout routine over an extended time and have to imagine it is so much harder at “born in fifty nine”, especially if there is much less externally to motivate you. BR is here to motivate ??

Thank you both very much for the kind words and support.

I had a most crappy day today and this certainly helped.

Plan on 'releasing' any & all pent up frustration I have

bright & early tomorrow morning in the home gym.

Can't wait.

Total Body 3 this morning ~ The grind continues.

Been working hard to find the right combination of training volume & intensity,

calories required and finally effective recovery.

Seems missing the mark is a lot easier than nailing it.

Feel like I'm getting close though.

@A-Jay,

I thought "Old Guy Pull Ups" were those metal tabs to open your beer/soft drink?

LOL ~

At first I thought you were going to refer to these 'Pull-Ups.'

Which I don't think are the same thing
