Super User A-Jay Posted February 25 Author Super User Posted February 25 Giant Set Workout Day 3 ~ I can only benefit from what I can successfully recover from. And my ability to recover fades just like everything else. But I'm not stopping. #borninfiftynine A-Jay 2 Quote
Super User A-Jay Posted February 27 Author Super User Posted February 27 Giant Set Workout Day 4. Still acclimating a bit to this style of training while at the same time cutting my caloric intake slightly. Both seem to be going as planned. #borninfiftynine A-Jay 1 Quote

Super User A-Jay Posted March 4 Author Super User Posted March 4 Giant Set Workout Day 2 for this one. My warm up takes almost as long as this whole workout. When I'm doing it right, more work in less time equals better fitness. #borninfiftynine A-Jay 1 Quote

Super User A-Jay Posted March 8 Author Super User Posted March 8 Giant Set Workout Day 4 ~ I was initially considering heading down to senior center today hoping to get in on a few rounds of pickle ball. Last minute, I switched lanes and hammered out some resistance training instead. #borninfiftynine. A-Jay 1 Quote

Super User Mobasser Posted March 13 Super User Posted March 13 A-Jay, your thread continues to inspire me. Besides working my part time job, Im still doing sit ups, leg lifts, and a light barbell workout on my days off. It's still helping me in a big way. Thank you. 1 1 Quote

Super User A-Jay Posted March 14 Author Super User Posted March 14 Giant Set Workout Day 3 and it went well. Unfortunately, my GoPro only recorded the last half of this training. Totally ticked me off but I'm showing that here. #borninfiftynine A-Jay 1 Quote
Super User A-Jay Posted March 16 Author Super User Posted March 16 Giant Set Workout Day 4 right here. Started this training in February with 4 working sets. After a month or so, that seemed like a little too much as I wasn't recovering fully between each workout. Accordingly, I've dropped back to 3 working sets of each movement and we'll see how that goes. If today was any indication, I'm going to like it. #borninfiftynine A-Jay 2 Quote

As well as a few other select supplements. The Amino Energy is my 'morning coffee' Beef liver goes down with every meal. Nitraflex is the pre-workout Aminolast, Creatine & L-Glutamine I have in one drink when I get up and before bed. Syntha-6 and Collagen are post workout. (they mix together well) I take everything "as directed" on the labels. Not a magic bullet but taking these helps me stay on track. A-Jay 2 Quote
WaskaCrank12 Posted March 17 Posted March 17 Thank you for posting these vids and information - inspiring me to get back on the path as I roll in to year 2 of my sixth decade - I have been using creatine and whey protein yet will have to look more into the other supplements - I need to dust off the kettlebells and crank up the Air Assault stationary bike ! 1 Quote

You're Welcome John. Certainly hope you will find your best way to take control. IMO, supplements may be slightly helpful, their effectiveness pales in comparison to just putting in the work. More than Half the battle is won just by showing up. Getting meal portions in check can be an eye opener as well. Good Luck A-Jay 1 Quote
Super User A-Jay Posted March 18 Author Super User Posted March 18 Need to take an additional off day before resuming my training this week. Muscle soreness is just a little too much today. I look at both as a good thing. I trained with enough intensity to require my body to adapt to it. And at 65, it's particularly important that I offer it the opportunity to do so. Be back at it tomorrow and expect it to be good. A-Jay btw, this thread now has over 91K views, Thank you. 1 Quote
Super User A-Jay Posted March 19 Author Super User Posted March 19 Back at it today with Giant Set Workout Day 1. Dropped into 4 wheel low a couple times in this one. That's what that extra day off can do. #borninfiftynine A-Jay 1 Quote
Super User A-Jay Posted March 21 Author Super User Posted March 21 Giant Set Workout Day 2 for this one. I was able to add a 2.5 lbs to each movement vs the last one of these workouts, while still completing the desired repetition ranges. Biggest challenge may be keeping myself moving through the training without taking extended rest periods. As a younger man, that might not really even register. But at 65, I'm calling that a Win ! #borninfiftynine A-Jay 2 Quote
Super User A-Jay Posted Sunday at 07:42 PM Author Super User Posted Sunday at 07:42 PM Giant Set Workout Day 3 today. Went well and I'm hoping to keep this roll I'm on for as long as I can. #borninfiftynine A-Jay 1 Quote
Super User A-Jay Posted Tuesday at 07:45 PM Author Super User Posted Tuesday at 07:45 PM Giant Set Workout Day 4 for this one. I was able to add a little weight to each movement while still performing the same sets & reps as the previous training. Had to earn it though. I'll be taking two off days following this one. Hopefully that can help me recover & ramp it up for the next cycle. #borninfiftynine A-Jay 1 Quote
