Like @cgolf, I value non-sponsor opinions higher, but a first post bashing sounds a bit sketchy to me. I've used kastking braid before, and it's ok. I like other braids better as mainline, so now I only use kastkings as backing. I plan on trying their Masters mono next season.

Hmmm, Me thinks KastKing will be a great first baitcaster for my 7 year old.

I purchased two of their reels when I was in need of a couple pond setups I could beat up. I gave one to my eight year old son and had one for myself for many months. We beat the snot out of them throwing them in the back of the truck and doing everything from rattle traps to heavy punching and flipping with them. After a while they started making horrible grinding noises. I opened them up and gave them a good cleaning like I do all my other reels and they've been performing fine since then. For the price I think they can't be beat either way. When we're just wanting to get a quick fix in after work and don't want to bring out my expensive stuff these are still what we reach for.

How are the cast controls? Difficult to backlash? I fish a lot of wind so this is a selling point for me.

Can't say about the lower diameters, but the 50# I have feels very slightly bigger than 50# PowerPro.  Indeed the specs reveal the same.  The only thing I've noticed is after prolonged use, it fades a bit, like every single braid I've ever used.

I prefer the internal centrifugal brakes on the Assassin.  On a budget reel, I'd rather deal with a more hassle free brake system.  Set it and forget it.  Just adjust the spool tension for the weight of the bait.

Ben - Why waste your time bashing them for what you perceive as "deceptive", even though there's nothing wrong with the line?  Either use it, or just ask them for a full refund and be done with it.  Either way, you'll be happier than just griping about it on the Internet.

It was my 8 year olds second bait caster months after just getting into fishing and he rarely backlashes it if that tells you anything. Set them right and shouldn't be an issue.

I got some KastKing Mega 8 at the beginning of the season.  I've used it all summer long on my frogging set up.  It has handled everything I've thrown at it with no problems.  With that said, I won't buy it again.  It felt pretty "ropey" to me and I lost distance with it.  I also felt like it was "too slick" and I didn't have as much confidence it my knots.  Does that make it bad?  Nope.  It just means I like Power Pro better and will stick with it.  Someone that DOES like it would find no argument with me.  Diff'rent strokes, folks.

There are two types of Braid: Super power, a 4 carrier, and SuperKast 9, a 9 carrier.  I've used the former since spring in 50# size on an Assassin reel.  Both have held up to the task.  Is it as good as a $175 reel?  Close, but no.  Is it good enough?  At $50, I'd say so.  I'm impressed.  It definitely outperforms many reels in the $70-100 range, and features similar entry level reels.  I'm not sure what you mean by "deceptive marketing."  They spec reels out to Chinese manufacturer, and sell direct to the consumer, cutting out several middle men, therefore able to offer them at a lower price.

I use Fortis , I LIKE IT! Buy it cheap off E bay. It must be Kastkings old line.

Honestly the only reason I mentioned ANY of this Glenn is because I was depending on this line to be the stated size because our fishing spot required a 150 yard drift. Needless to say I didn't quite get there with 105 yards.    I Think anyone would have been Atleast slightly frustrated with that scenario.  I'm not trying to trash this company. If that's all it seems I apologize. But it's nice to know what you're buying which is again why I started this post at all.

Assassin and Stealth have dual brakes, centrifugal and magnetic. Speed Demon has magnetic only.

Stealth backlashes the most for me. It has a crazy light spool which might be part of the cause.

Speed Demon backlashes the least. When brakes and cast control knob are set properly its like fishing a spincaster. Almost impossible to backlash.

Ok, so you're not even a bass angler. You just came here to bash Kastking.

I have a dispute with 'company X'. Can I post about it here?
While we can empathize with your frustration, the best course of action is deal directly with the company. Escalate it up the ladder, file a grievance with PayPal or Ebay (if they were involved with the transaction). File a mail fraud complaint with the post office. There are other options, but attacking the company in a public forum is not appropriate nor allowed. Such posts will be removed.
