Recently I have really gotten turned on to tube fishing, and want the most success. I have been using a spinning rod, but had some issues with it. Does using a tube with a baitcasting setup impact or change the action any? If not, I'd love to use a baitcaster for my tube fishing.

What you throw it on will not matter as long as it has slack line to fall on.  The biggest change is the angle of the hook eye and the weight if the jig head.

I use spinning tackle for mine, but I'm also using light weight 1/8oz-3/16oz jig heads. Like angry John said the hook eye angle is huge I personally like 60°myself. That's also due to the fact 98%" of thr tube fishing I'm doing is rock slabs, with current and dragging it. That being said I don't see why you wouldn't be able to use bc set up.

I throw tubes on baitcasting gear the majority of time.  Stay away from heavy line unless flipping.  I use 8lb. for internal jig heads and 12lb for 'stupid' rigging, different rods. Fact is, I built a casting rod on a spinning blank for the sole purpose of using it for tube jigs. I paired it with a reel that can cast a 1/8oz. tube/jig easily and absolutely love the set-up.  I don't like spinning gear for extended tube fishing because of line twist issues. there's still line twist because of the spiral fall of the tube, but the problem isn't compounded by the reel.

BTW, prior to that build, I was using a Med power rod with what I would call a mod/fast action and I fish from a boat, so casting distance isn't as much of a concern.

For me it's a spinning rod with ten pound power pro with a ten or twelve pound fluro leader.  Use an internal weight (gitzit glider style lead) and a 3/0 EWG.  Been doing this for over thirty years and enjoy.  Best part is skipping under docks and tree's.  Not good enough to do it with a BC.

Good Luck

That rifht there. I also use the internal tube weights and I lvoe them in certain situations. His set up is pretty much identical to mine ironically. i have some line twist issues on occasion but not too often

I fish "bigger" tubes with heavier internal jigheads on a bait caster with 10 to 12lb mono.

Zoom Salty Tubes and Berkley Havoc Smash tubes are prime examples.

My setup is similar to wayfarer's.  If its heavy enough, I prefer to use a bait caster but some tubes I use are very small and light weight so I have to use a spinning setup instead because I can't cast it with a BC anymore.

I generally use bigger 4+ inch tubes like the berkley havoc, smash, or power tubes for largemouth and use smaller 3 inch tubes for smallies on a tube jig.

I've fished tubes with both spinning and casting rigs but I find them more effective, especially in deeper water, with spinning gear. As said above it's easier to let the tube fall in the spiral action that makes tubes great with a spinning reel since it's easier to let slack out to let it fall.  In shallower water it casting works well too but I've switched primarily over to a spinning rig with 30lb braid and a 8lb leader of P-Line CX Premium.
