grid Posted June 14, 2007 Posted June 14, 2007 10 years ago DNR took over 4 old gravel pits and turned them into small lakes. The one I fish is super clear. Can see down 15 ft or so. The lake runs 20 -30 feet deep and is mostly steep drop offs. Not much for cover. Has some small brush on the edge. The edge of the lake has a green veg. mat and *** you hit 8-10 feet you start to get into the tall 3-4 ft. grass/weeds. I have been going out every day the past four days. I have found the bass have been hitting Zoom trick worms watermellon with red flakes. I am texas rigging them with a bullet weight retreaving slow. With the clear water and lack of cover I been catching them in about 20+ ft. of water. Is there maybe other ways I can fish these plastic worms to produce better results? My boat is a Sea Nympth 12ft. alluminum. With the slighest wind the front of the boat goes everywhere. I do use a anchor in the back to keep me in a spot to work it but I'm just starting out using weightless baits and I tend to get discourage with my boat flip flopping that I go back to bullets. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Quote
brian_82 Posted June 14, 2007 Posted June 14, 2007 Use another anchor off the front of your boat to keep yourself in position. Quote
Super User cart7t Posted June 15, 2007 Super User Posted June 15, 2007 Hang an anchor in the water off the front bow eye on about 2-3 ft or rope. It'll pull the front of the boat down a little and the weight will make the front end a little less likely to blow around as fast if the wind picks up. Quote
Super User Catt Posted June 15, 2007 Super User Posted June 15, 2007 Texas Rig the trick worm but put a 1 paneling nail in the tail Quote
BassPonder72 Posted June 15, 2007 Posted June 15, 2007 You could try the trick worm on a shakey head. Quote
surfer Posted June 15, 2007 Posted June 15, 2007 Putting the anchor on the front will help sum. Putting a second anchor on the other end of your boat will help lots. If putting an anchor off of both ends interferes with fishing then use two in a V formation off of the two back corners. When you say slow retrieve are you pausing and letting it sit for at least as much as you are retrieving? i have heard from lots of members on here and had lots of success letting my bait sit about 90% of the time and moving it only 10%. Super User .dsaavedra. Posted June 16, 2007 Super User Posted June 16, 2007 sounds like a wacky rig might put some fish in the boat there for ya Quote
