Chughes37 Posted October 8, 2017 Posted October 8, 2017 Looking for some quality bass fishing spots in Kansas or Missouri area, either pond or lake doesn't matter. Google hasn't helped much. Any info would be appreciated! Quote
Super User geo g Posted October 9, 2017 Super User Posted October 9, 2017 If you have not found any spots using Google, then there must not be many around. If that's the case, guys will be reluctant to give out their honey holes. Good luck, but go back to google and check out all tackle shops, parks, ponds, lakes, and streams. Someone is finding fish somewhere. Quote
joefish Posted October 10, 2017 Posted October 10, 2017 Check this thread, lots of good information on KC area. Quote

IowaFishandSport Posted October 12, 2017 Posted October 12, 2017 Sweet Jesus do yourself a favor and make sure you buy any county permits as well. I just got caught today fishing. Bought my 1-day non-resident and had NO idea there were county permits needed. No break was given to me and it’s a mandatory court date offense. Needless to say it sucks, and I’m probably never fishing in KS again. Quote

There are a couple lakes by me that require a permit in addition to a valid fishing license. Likewise some that are off limits completely after 9-11, that used to be fantastic lakes. One even had a marina to rent jonboats. You get caught near these lakes and you are guaranteed a ticket. Quote

Wyandotte county lake and shawnee mission lake in Kansas requires a county boat and fishing permit. Smithville lake in Missouri requires a county permit for vehicle and boat. As a former Iowan I feel your pain. Never heard of county fishing permits until I moved here. Fortunately I bought all of the required permits. Quote

Yeah I just happened upon the area, had some down time (travel a lot for work) and figured let’s go fishing. Bought the state license and thought good to go. Didn’t even catch anything. Also had never heard of a county permit. The other thing is it’s a mandatory court appearance. Quote

You might call the courthouse. I got one for an equipment violation that I had the option to go to court or pay a fee in place. Wasn't much to fight, so I just paid. There's several lakes in Johnson County, at least 3 in Wyandotte County, and then several in Jackson County, MO that you need special county permits for. You're not missing out on anything, as you found out, there's no bass in Kansas anyways. Quote

Atchison KS. Welcome to the forum. Glad you are catching fish. This a 2 year old thread, but if you look at the fish he has posted it would be obvious he is joking. There are a few lakes around here where 2 to 3 dozen bass a day are common. Some of us are fortunate enough to catch multiple fish over 5 pounds every year, with an occasional 7 pound plus kicker. La Cygne has produced a few over 10 pounds. Quote
