Avid, I have hauled mine on a 12' utility trailer.  I now have a 16' utility trailer and haul it on that.  If I can back the trailer down to the water I load all my gear before launch.  They are light enough that I sometimes drag it across grass to the water with some of the gear in it and carry the rest and load at the waters edge.

I ahve hauled around a borrowed boat like this on my Dad's 4x8 utility trailer (you know the type:  Steel diamond mesh with a single axle and 12" tires) with no problem.

If it is the type of boat like cabelas sells, the "dolphin 120" Which is more of the shape of the outdated boat style "trihull" the above trailer would work.  Otherwise...

If it is the true BH style pond boat, it would be pretty easy.  Just a Jon boat/PWC trailer frame.  8 or so inch tires, and "V" shaped bunks like on some larger pontoons.  That boat basically is a catamaran, which is carried just like a pontoon.  Side guide ons would be nice on that, as it won't center as easily as a V hull boat if you come in crooked.  No biggie.

IMHO, money well spent would be on an aluminum jon boat, but, I cannot tell you not to buy that, and people do like them (I don't).

that padleboat company 10.2 looks good.

Lifting my battery, motor, and canoe in and out of the truck is getting old.  Not to mention painful.

Also sitting in the canoe even with the aftermarket seat i bought isn't high enough.  My back is pretty spazzed by the time I'm done.

Ideal for me would be something that I could bow mount a foot pedal TM on.  and traler to the lake with all equipment on board.  a comfortable seat on a pedestal would take pressure off the back.

It's not going to happen this year, but it's time to start looking around.

I use a small utility trainer to haul my small 10.2 BassHound. It hangs off the back a little but makes loading and unlaoding a little easier. Just make sure you keep the bulk of your weight forward on the trailer to make it pull better, mine likes to wander if I don't

Avid,

I use a jetski trailer...  I had a friend that sold jet ski's and motorcycles.  Told him what I was looking for and he found me a used trailer.  I adjusted the bunk's to fit the bottom of the boat.  I use my lawn tractor to tow it back and forth to the lake in the back yard.  It also works well when I tow it to the local lakes to fish!

One thing to consider when using a small utility trailer as a boat trailer are the wheel bearings.  Most of the utility trailers I have used did not have hubs made for wet applications.

avid, IMO one of those small boats would be perfect for you and the fishing you do.

Avid, another option to consider, pontoon boat. Easy to load in a pick up, great to fish small water from plus carry more weight. I set mine up with a front motor bracket that also mounts my depth finder.

Avid,

I bought one of these (Basstender 10.2) at a yard/divorce sale.  The thing was never registered because it was on a private pond.  I bought it without any paperwork and now the state of Florida says that it can't be registered.  I always thought that there was a way around this.  Really sucks because it is a nice boat and it is just itting here at the house.  One option is to "sell" it to a friend of mine in a state that doest require a title or Mfg Certicate of Ownership.  Have him register it, then sell it back to me!

these are some nice rigs.

I love those seats with leg room.

The utility trailer looks cheap and easy.  I wonder if you can get bearing buddies for them?

Why not?  Bearing buddies could care less if they were installed on boat or utility trailers.  They use the same bearings on both types of trailers.  One thing though, you are gonna want larger wheels than some come with.  At my house we use a minimum of 12 inch on Jon boats and stuff, 13s on medium boats, and 14s and 15s on larger trailers.  The little 8 inch wheels have to turn more revolutions per mile, and this eats up the bearings, even if you have buddies.  Change them wheels out to 12s if your trailer doesn't already have  them.

Avid:  I've got a 9' 6" bass assassian pond boat that I put in the back of our Town and Country; sticks out a bit and have to bungee cord the back end down but no need for a trailer.

Avid, if you can weld or have a buddy that can help you it might be best to get a light used boat trailer and modifiy.  It would have the right springs for the job.  The last one I bought for 100 bucks slapped a coat of paint packed the bearings, did some small mods and made a v-bottom trailer pull a john boat.

You can set up an appointment and the state police will come to the boat for a vin check for the registry.  I had title issues with mine and this is what it took.  Drama, but it CAN be done.

avid- I really would suggest looking into jons.  Especially if "leg room" is appreciated.  They are lighter, roomier, and stabler with much more "surface/deck area".  (and if they develop a leak, you don't have to drill a hole in it to drain it ;) )

I have never seen a boat I can't get registered in FL and I have done a whole bunch of them without paperwork over the years (and recently). Write yourself or have a friend write you a bill of sale for $50 for an abandoned or salvaged boat with no name brand on it, just the length and material it's made of. Then just tell them at the county tag office that you spent a few months rebuilding the boat and get a homemade title for it. A good idea is to also take it to a near by landfill or other certified scale so that you have a verified weight slip in hand (some places ask for this and they usually charge a $5 fee for the weight reciept and scale use.)

If you have any questions or if you just want to sell it pm me.

Tennsopher has a 9' Bass Hunter type boat and I fish with him once in a while in it. That little boat is pretty comfortable and goes places I couldn't even get a jonboat (+ he catches as many or more big fish than I do in my big boat.) But he hauls it in his pickup because those trailers with the little wheels would be useless on the lakes that he fishes in the swamps here.
