Thank you for the information. Being a life member it amazes me how little information is shared. So we wait and see how another media corp runs B.A.S.S., hope it's not a repeat of ESPN. Pay for view may be in the future with no paper Bassmaster magazine??

Man, I hope not.

However, most everyone I know is watching bassmaster live and not the espn2 show thats on 2 weeks later. So i could see that happening.

Jerry McKinnis is one of the investors?  He's the one who started bassmasters. And brought bass fishing to what it is today. This could be a good thing to maybe revive it? I'm saying we don't fully see what's going on. Sometimes a sport needs a shot in the arm to take it to the next level. Pay for view I hope not. After the Tyson vs Spinx fight I don't do any pay for view. Lol

 

for years hunting and fishing shows are on Saturday and Sunday mornings. When do we fish and hunt dah? I wish we had prime time fishing and hunting shows then we could see what the sponcers have to offer too.

I am surprised with the lack of interest in this topic. Anderson Media Corp doesn't have a history with bass fishing other than investing into the sport of profit.

Bass fishing as we know it is a product of tournament bass fishing and it could be argued without Ray Scott creating B.A.S.S. back in 1968 this site wouldn't exist.

I loved watching the Fishing Hole tv show as a kid and a adult. Jerry would build his own boat, one a year. Way before bass boats were offered.

The article and everything i have read does say that nothing is going to change. They did say that Anderson media has been a stock hilder for years its just that they are now the majority stock holder

Bill, Logan, McKinnis and Copeland who purchased BASS from ESPN and restarted B.A.S.S. in the spirit of the original association are no longer with B.A.S.S., they sold to Anderson Media. If you all believe there will not be major changes, hope you are right but that never happens in  business acquisition.

If memory serves me right, this is the 5th ownership change for B.A.S.S.  Each time, people moaned about the dark, ominous changes that were about to occur.  Some even predicted the demise of B.A.S.S.

 

I gave up waiting for those predictions to occur years and years ago.

Glenn I don't believe B.A.S.S. changed ownership 5 times? The corporation changed presidents when Ray Scott had to step down, then his predecessor stepped down and then sold to ESPN, etc., 3 times sold? FLW was a spin off when members split over the direction things were going. I am not predicting the demise of B.A.S.S., I am predicting a change in direction and don't have a crystal ball to determine if it's a positive or negative direction, it's a new direction.

Being a life member since '69, I just sit back and hope B.A.S.S. continues to be a positive influence to our sport.

Agree, when Scott stepped down and Helen replaced him, B.A.S.S. changed hands but wasn't sold until Helen stepped down, then it was sold to ESPN, as I recall.

The new owners were previous investors, now Anderson Media.

Ray Scott did a lot for bass fishing but he and Helen were not handling the finances correctly, they had to step down it wasn't voluntary. It's all history at this point in time and we wait for the next chapter.

I would prefer a stand alone subscription.  I refuse to pay for cable.  I don't watch any tv but HBO.  I dumped the cord 5 years ago.  HBO came out with a stand alone app so now I can watch again.  I'm relegated to watching bass on youtube long after the tournament conclusion.  If BASS would offer a subscription service like HBO has... I would buy it.

Well if it does change hope it is for the better.Been a member since the late 70 s.Look forward to there magazine in my mail box,I hope that dont change.Dont care for digital magazines.I get theres and a few others.FLW seems to be changing to.Hope they both continue to improve.

Yea, I feel the same way.  I paid for the MLF site for a while, but it was too much money and like 90% of the other content didn't interest me at all.  I would love to (and would pay) to watch pro fishing of any sort, but I have no interest in other sports/hunting stuff and paying for said content.

Exactly. The new majority owner has been a minority owner for a while. That's why I'm not too worried that things will change.
