Porkrind Posted October 6, 2017 Posted October 6, 2017 Man I’ve been chucking the Whopper Plopper 130 in the T100 color and doing very very well, but it’s mostly sand bass choking it down. I love catching sandies but I’m telling ya they crush it every time and I’m having a hard time keeping it on the water for the large mouth. Still tons of fun and if I didn’t have fish in the freezer I’d bring em home. I personally think the sandies are extremely underrated when it comes to eating. Anyways I thought I’d see if anyone else has this goin on. 1 Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted October 6, 2017 Global Moderator Posted October 6, 2017 White bass will hit about anything when they're feeding. I haven't caught a bunch on them but I don't usually fish them in areas where there are lots of them. If I do get into them, I'm moving instead of dealing with catching them most of the time. They're a pain to deal with, especially on treble hooks. Quote

Pro Logcatcher Posted October 6, 2017 Posted October 6, 2017 I don't know... Maybe upgrade to a bigger WP? I'm not sure what the biggest size is. But if you're having so much fun catching white bass, then why do you want a change? 1 Quote
Looch Posted October 11, 2017 Posted October 11, 2017 They'll probably even hit the 190 if they are in a feeding frenzy. I've seen guys catch 2 on 1 big pencil lure when the white bass run in the spring. Yes white and yellow bass are very good eating, stripers are too. Never tried a wiper but I'm sure they are too. Crappie, perch, white bass, and bluegill through the ice is my favorite way to harvest them. Something about the cold water makes the texture better, especially with crappie and perch imo Quote
