Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted October 5, 2017 Global Moderator Posted October 5, 2017 I've been melting old plastics down and using open pour molds to make some of my own plastics but decided to get a couple molds and try the injection style since the baits look a little nicer. Went with the Pitboss and 6.8 Fat Impact molds and they both turned out pretty good for my first tries I think. 5 Quote
gall Posted October 5, 2017 Posted October 5, 2017 If you don't mind me asking, where did you get those molds? They look incredible and I really like the color scheme on the *** impact. Quote

They're coming from Ukraine, takes all of the 2-4 weeks it says it takes for them to get here, but they're nice molds for not being aluminum and way cheaper. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Soft-Plastic-Lure-Bait-DIY-Mold-Swing-Impact-FAT-Soft-Lure-Swimbait-Shad-Worm/192112218946?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&var=492016153193&_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649 As for the color, that's just a mix of green pumpkinish/watermelony used plastics I have saved in a 5 gallon bucket. I melt a bunch together and whatever color they end up is the color I use. I've got a bucket of black and blue and similar colors, and another of baitfish colors. Most everything ends up green pumpkin hued though. 1 Quote
Pro Logcatcher Posted October 5, 2017 Posted October 5, 2017 Looks good! I usually just use the cheaper open pour molds and trim the excess rubber off. Quote

Plus, the mold was only $31.50. I have a 3.8" open pour that works well for making trailers though. Quote

Interesting! I checked out the link and they have quite a bit they offer. What is the mold made out of? Have you tried their sinker molds? Quote

It's a very hard material and seems like it should be pretty durable. This was my first order from them and I wasn't disappointed. Already eyeing a couple other for baits. I haven't tried the sinker molds. Quote
Comfortably Numb Posted October 6, 2017 Posted October 6, 2017 Nice work on those. Nice molds. Baits may stick a lil and are not shiny. Quote

The top keeps coming off the injector when I try to push the excess out, not sure how to fix that but it's not a big deal either. Quote
DomQ Posted October 9, 2017 Posted October 9, 2017 What are you spraying the molds with to keep them from sticking. Considering buying a few molds myself. Also how do you get the glossy finish on the baits Quote
